How do I sign up for an appointment?
You can request an appointment under the Sign-Up section on our website. This will take you to a Google Form where you complete a consent form and a screening questionnaire for suitability.
Why do I have to complete a screening questionnaire?
Providing personal and health-related information is voluntary. However, if insufficient information is provided, it may not be possible to determine eligibility or offer an appointment within the clinic. We only ask questions that are relevant to your care and necessary for an effective consultation, in line with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) guidelines.
What happens after I sign up for an appointment?
Your enquiry will be reviewed to assess whether your needs fall within the scope of the clinic. If appropriate, we will be in touch within 3–5 working days with further details on how to book an appointment. Where we are unable to offer support, you will be signposted to relevant NHS services.
Which days will the clinic be running?

What should I bring to my appointment?
To support a safe and effective consultation, you may find it helpful to have the following available (if you have access to them):
Recent blood test results (e.g. blood glucose, HbA1c, cholesterol, kidney or liver function biomarkers)
Any diagnoses provided by your GP or consultant
A list of current medications or supplements
Recent measurements such as blood pressure, weight and height, including any past changes and measurements in weight if known
Do I need to bring all of this information?
Providing personal and health-related information is voluntary. However, if insufficient information is provided, we may be unable to understand your health background to provide personalised nutrition advice and ensure recommendations are safe and appropriate.
What if I can’t attend my appointment?
If you are unable to attend this appointment, please let us know ASAP at studentdieteticclinic@brookes.ac.uk.
Can I reschedule my appointment?
Where possible, we will try to rearrange your appointment. However, availability may be limited.
What happens during an appointment?
During your appointment, you will meet with a small team consisting of one student dietitian who will lead the consultation, a second student dietitian, and a supervising HCPC-registered dietitian. As this is a training clinic, the session is designed to support student learning under professional supervision.
The student leading the session will speak with you about your diet, lifestyle, and goals, assess your nutritional needs, and work with you to set personalised goals and provide tailored dietary advice.
The supervising dietitian and the second student may also be present during the appointment; however, they will usually have their microphones and cameras turned off and will only contribute if needed to support the consultation.
How do I join my appointment?
You will receive a secure Zoom link via email once you book your appointment. Please ensure you have a stable internet connection.
How long is the appointment?
Appointments are scheduled for approximately 60 minutes to allow sufficient time for assessment and discussion.
Will I have follow-up appointments?
No, this clinic operates as a single-session service. Where additional input is required, you will be signposted to your GP or appropriate NHS services (e.g. NHS 111).
Is my information confidential?
Yes. Any information you share is voluntary and will be kept confidential and managed in line with GDPR guidelines.
Do you have access to my medical records?
No, we don’t have access to your medical records. You may find it helpful to share relevant information to support your consultation, but this is completely up to you.
