These resources are all free to Brookes staff and students. Remember you can borrow up to 20 books in total (30 if you’re a PG student). Library eBooks will need your Brookes login.

Brookes Library has an extensive collection of contemporary and classic fiction.
Fiction isn't arranged A-Z by author, as in a public library. Instead each book has a call number that tells you where to find it on the library shelves. Novels and short stories will all have a call number starting 8. In the Headington Library, you'll find this section on Level 4.

In the Headington Library you'll find other literatures on Level 4 in Zones D and E. Some books will be in translation, others in the original language:
Much of our young adult and children's fiction will be held at Harcourt Hill Library. If you are based at Headington, you can place a hold to have these books sent to your home library.
Oxford Brookes is the home of the Booker Prize Archive and we have a collection of all the shortlisted Booker Prize titles in the Headington Library on Level 4 , Zone D (on the low shelves). You can borrow any of the shortlisted titles from 2001 onwards. In addition we hold loan copies of many of the shortlisted titles from before 2021 - these are filed in the normal book sequence on Level 4.
Graded readers are simplified versions of English books which could be useful for any student who wants to improve their English language reading skills.

Go to Level 2, in Zone E (silent study area) - the readers are shelved at the call number 428.64 and they can all be borrowed. The books are mainly novels and short stories with a few non-fiction titles.
Every print book has a call number that tells you where to find it on the library shelves. Use LibrarySearch to look for print and eBooks on a topic you're interested in.
