Brookes TV coverage of the event
To mark the 10th anniversary celebrations all local network groups were asked to put on an event on the theme of food. Oxford Brookes University hosted an Instagram cooking competition using commonly wasted and leftover food. This was open to all universities across London and the South East. Entries were judged by local community food rescue and food waste organisations. PRME UK and Ireland provided £300 in prize money, which was given to 3 winners across 3 categories.
Winners were announced at a hybrid event that involved community partners taking part in a live cook-off challenge demonstrating how to use commonly wasted and leftover food, and a panel discussion on food waste challenges and solutions. A consultant partner in the project also presented the results of a survey into Oxford hospitality business approaches to food waste and food rescue solutions.
