This study will investigate an area of children’s activity which remains significant in the present. It is the first extensive attempt to research children and the peace movement in England from 1919 to 1969. The study will draw on a range of documentary sources and archived oral history interviews.
I am also doing oral history interviews with people who were
(i) interested as a child in pacifism and/or involved in the English peace movement between 1920 and 1969; and/ or
(ii) involved as an adult in promoting peace/pacifism among children – in families, in schools or other institutions, as part of a peace organisation – between 1920 and 1969.
If this is you, please read on as I would love to speak to you! Interviews can be arranged at a time convenient to you and would last no longer than an hour. This could be in-person, or at a distance using the telephone or a video-interview software such as Zoom, depending on your preference and what is feasible given your location!. With your permission I would like to audio-record the interview and create a transcript (which I would send back to you so you could check its content). If you would prefer not to audio-record, that is fine, as I could write notes. Once I have conducted all my interviews I could send you a short report of overall findings if you are interested.
Further information about the project and the interviews can be found here. Information about GDPR and your data as it applies to this project can be found here .
