Humanistic Perspectives

Welcome to the website for the Humanistic Perspectives research group. We are a group of academic staff and research students based at the School of Education, Oxford Brookes University but with members also elsewhere in the University.

The Humanistic Perspectives research group draws together researchers who adopt a variety of humanistic methodologies (e.g. historical, philosophical, literary, anthropological, socio-cultural, narrative analysis, visual and artistic). Our research is varied but addresses arts, humanities, literature, and learning and identity within and beyond typical institutional settings. Our aims are::

1. To advocate the value of humanistic research within wider educational and societal debates., and

2. To explore and contribute to the development of humanistic research methodologies

Through this website, you can find out more about who we are, the projects we are working on, and some of our publications. We also have a research group blog.

UPDATE AUTUMN 2020: we continue to be physically dispersed and face to face activities have been postponed. But we continue to meet and work online!
