Live Build Bamboo Workshop: 5-18 August
Join us this summer for an immersive live build workshop where you'll learn to create your own reciprocal bamboo pavilion! Utilizing bamboo's unique elastic properties, you'll design and construct a multi-purpose structure.
The workshop includes 3 days of visiting Bamboo U/Ibuku buildings near Ubud, and a 10-Day Live build workshop in the mountains*. There will also be opportunities to attend some other cultural visits such as temples, shows and nature walks.
We will be building a Grand village gateway. The village asked us to build a grand gateway for their village. This will be a unique opportunity to engage with the community and build something that will be useful.
The workshop will include a visit to bamboo forest, and see how they are harvested, processed and treated. There will also be a model making workshop where students will learn how to make and test ideas at small scale.
Architectural Model Making
Begin by exploring bamboo's elasticity, creating interlocking loops to form sturdy modules, which connect to create a balanced organic structure.
Hands-on Building
Participate in every step of the building process, from preparing the bamboo to assembling the structure and installing the roof. This hands-on experience demonstrates how to transform raw bamboo into a robust and elegant pavilion.
This workshop is perfect for anyone interested in bamboo construction or seeking a hands-on building experience. You'll not only learn how to create an innovative reciprocal bamboo structure, but you'll also join a community of creatives.
Ready to join? Secure your spot in this transformative workshop today!
* Please be advised this is not a Bamboo Construction or Carpentry Course, there will be no formal training or lectures, this is an experience to build a structure out of Bamboo for a local community, visit exemplary and experimental bamboo buildings and be exposed to the versatility of the material.
