Mission Statement:
“Empower students with the knowledge and skills necessary to lead a healthy lifestyle. Our goal is to sustain positive, lifelong habits as a foundation through educational experiences for a healthy, productive, and fulfilling life.”
Over the years, Physical Education programs across the country have undergone a change or rebirth. The main focus is no longer just fitness and team sports, but rather on helping individuals grow as human beings. These programs have evolved into helping young people survive in an increasingly complex and diverse society, which is characterized by rapid change, sedentary work and leisure practices, changing family structures and roles, and the promotion of unhealthy behaviors by various sources.
The Physical Education department offers ninth and tenth graders a foundational program in Physical Education that focuses on assisting students in identifying and developing attitudes and values associated with leading a healthy lifestyle. It is our belief that this curriculum will enhance the quality of life for our students by developing within them the skills needed to contribute effectively to home, school, work, and community life.
The goal of this curriculum is to help every student benefit from and find joy in physical education, no matter what their entry level of abilities, athletic skill or history in athletics may be.
