The Problem (as told by the students)
After talking with our teachers we discovered a problem in our school community that we might be able to help with. Here are some quotes from the teachers:
“I notice that some of my students find that their minds are bouncing around everywhere and they find it hard to concentrate”
“The trouble in Pitau 2 is that the children get so angry and they don’t know what to do about it"
“Our children have trouble dealing with the emotion - frustration”
“A problem we have in our class is that we have a lot of kids coming into the classroom, particularly boys who get frustrated really quickly and they get really angry”
So what can we do for our Bromley community to help?
We went through the design thinking process to come up with a digital outcome.
Our digital project idea is to build a website resource for teachers. The site will be filled with videos that provide a particular positive emotion for feeling.
Teachers will be able to access these videos for their class when needed.
Creating the Video Clips
We decided on a target group. Our teams generated surveys to find out what type of things we would need in our videos.
This step helped us to clearly define our digital outcomes and what images, music and animations should be used in our videos. Our survey results helped us generate ideas for our videos.
Upskilling in digital animation and GarageBand, we began working on our prototype.
We checked in with our target audience to get feedback on our creations.
Then the web design team spun into action. With any lick our digital creation will have an impact on the hauora of our community!
