The Method

Talk for Writing is powerful because it enables children to imitate the language they need for a particular topic orally before reading and analysing it and then writing their own version. Our 'Dinosaur' unit will run for 6 weeks.

Objectives

• Use phonetically plausible strategies to spell all words.
• Leave spaces between words.
• Construct simple, logical sentences.
• Start a sentence with a capital letter and end it with a full stop.
• Sequence sentences using different openers (first, then, next, after that, finally).
• Add appropriate adjectives to sentences.
• Use conjunctions to lengthen sentences.
