Block 3 & 4 – Gymnastics / Short Tennis
In the gymnastics unit, pupils will explore basic gymnastic movements such as balancing, rolling, and simple jumps. They will learn to move safely and with control.
Key Vocabulary: Balance, roll, jump, movement, control, posture, stretch.
In the short tennis unit, pupils will learn basic short tennis skills such as holding a racket, hitting a ball with control, and simple rallies with a partner.
Key Vocabulary: Racket, ball, hit, control, partner, rally, grip.
Pupils will follow the BSC Swim stage. These 8 stages are based on best practice from the England Swimming Association. Swimming and water safety instruction is a statutory requirement under the English National Curriculum for Physical Education with the aim of all pupils being able to swim 25m continuously, using a range of different strokes as well as being able to perform a self-rescue by the end of Year 6.
