Athletes

Current membership of British Rowing or Scottish Rowing is one of the minimum requirements for athletes to be eligible for selection. Among other benefits, membership provides insurance when taking part in rowing or rowing-related activities as described in the links below. Athletes must have a valid racing membership to be able to participate in the trials process.

Coaches

Coaches involved with GBRT trials are expected to maintain coaching membership of British Rowing or Scottish Rowing throughout the season.  

Among other benefits, membership provides insurance when taking part in rowing or rowing-related activities as described in the links below. Coaches are responsible for keeping their membership up-to-date to provide this insurance cover. Memberships will be checked before any residential activity.

TEAMS TRAVELLING ABROAD tbc

All rowers, coaches and support staff who are part of an U19 team travelling abroad will have insurance cover as follows:

Medical – each person will be insured for up to £2,000,000 of medical expenses if they are incurred outside the UK, providing they hold a VALID Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC), which they must have with them. This is a condition of acceptance on to the British Rowing Medical Insurance Policy. Anyone not complying with this should expect to be liable for the cost of any medical treatment.

Personal effects – these are not covered by insurance and individuals are recommended to arrange their own cover for personal effects, including cover for baggage in transit.

Club/School boats loaned to GBRT for an event will be covered by British Rowing’s insurance whilst in transit to and from the event, and while in use at the event. Details of the boats must be provided when requested in advance of the event for them to be covered. Any damage must be reported to the Team Manager at the time of the accident/incident.
