Book Week

Year 3

We've started the year by looking at the picture book The Word Collector by Peter H. Reynolds

It is a lovely story about a boy who collects words he hears through conversations and different situations.

One day, he decided to share those words with all of the other children!

We were inspired by the story of Jerome and his love of words. So we created poems based on our favourite smells and flavours and created acrostic poems.

We created a word tree, covered in the words we've found in dictionaries or heard throughout the week, that we really linked and wanted to remember. This is now a permanent display in our classroom, for us to always remember our favourite words!

We also wrote acrostic poems, using the word 'aromatic' which we found in the text.
