Land, Sea and Sky

Year 2
Zoolab!
We had a insightful visior from zoolab who shared amazing facts about living things. We learnt about where they live, what they eat and lots more. We even met the animals and were able to touch them!
To answer our key question 'Why is it important for humans to protect plants and animals?', we looked at the impacts of pollution on sea animals and what can be done by humans to avoid these impacts. We explored a variety of protest art created by artists to bring awareness to the dangers of pollution. To share our message, we created protest art ourselves using a variety of textures/media. Check them out below!
Paradise Wildlife Centre
Our educational visit was to the amazing Paradise Wildife Park. We saw a variety of animals such as sloths, snow leopards, penguins and even an anaconda!
We also had a fascinating talk from one of the park's zookeepers, Chris. He told us all about how many of the park's animals are adapted to their natural habitats!
Class chicks!
Year 2 adopted chicks for 2 weeks as apart of our topic Land, Sea and Sky! The chicks came to us as eggs in an incubator. We made sure to keep the incubator at a temperature of 37 degrees celcius so the eggs were kept warm enough for the chicks to hatch. Once all 10 of our chicks were hatched, we moved them into their light box. We made sure to clean out the box at the end of everyday and top up their food and water!
The chicks returned to the farm bigger and fluffier than how they came to us!
