Arts Week
Year 2
Year 2
For Arts Week we learnt all about colours. We created art in the style of Jean-Michel Basquiat using oil pastels, drew self portraits using pencils. We created tickets in preparation for our Showtime performance.
We learnt about primary colours and then created our own secondary and tertiary colours by mixing colours. We then used the colours we had mixed to create prints using different objects.
We used primary and secondary colours to print.
Here are some of our art work examples inspired by Jean-Michel Basquiat. We used oil pastels - a similar medium to Basquiat and used our Words of the Week to create the same style. We blended the colours
We drew our self-portraits by observing ourselves in the mirror, drawing lines using pencil and considering the light and dark parts of our faces by shading.
In Summer 2 we took part in the second Arts week of the year, which was based around the theme Mother Africa. We made African animals out of clay, in which we engraved important African symbols. We did African dancing- we learnt a traditional dance from Ghana. We also painted African animals pictures using bright colours based on the book The Greedy Zebra. Additionally, we helped to decorate a globe for The World Reimagined project - this will go on display at different locations across the country!
