Arts Week
Year 6
THE DAY THE CRAYONS QUIT
Inspired by The Day the Crayons Quit, we wrote stories from the perspectives of everyday items: chairs, pens and teddybears. We illustrated our work using watercolour skills.
We practised blending colours to create a mood and atmosphere. A range of mediums were used such as oil pastels, water colours and paints.
We used Word of the Week to help understand the messages of the text
Icons & heritage
During Arts Week II, we learned about the icons and heritage of Mother Africa through music and various forms of art.
AFRICAN MUSIC
We learned about three different genres of music with Nia; Traditional african music, Afro fusion and Afrobeat.
PRINTS
We used stencils, paints, rollers and bamboo barrens to create prints with Dorota.
EXHIBITION ART
We all contributed to a piece of exhibition art which will be featured in the World Reimagined exhibition.
DIGITAL POP ART
We learned about the pop artist, Fred Edami, believed to be one of the only African pop artists in the world. We learned about where he was from and looked at examples of his art.
Edami creates pop art which features African icons such as Nelson Mandela and Kofi Anan. We took inspiration from him and created our own Edami-inspired pop art pieces featuring an African icon of our choice.
