Investigate Week

Year 2

We always start our new topics discussing what we already know and what we want to know. Our topic of discussion was about materials.

The book we read during Investigate Week was Man On The Moon: A day in the Life of Bob.

Bob worked on the moon and was keen for us to help him attract more visitors! We decided to build dioramas to present all the incredible features of space to persuade tourist to visit.

We investigated a range of joining techniques to help us create our dioramas.

We ensured it was a fair test while investigating glue, blu tack, paperclips, cellotape and rubber bands.

Once we had completed our dioramas we created videos on Flipgrid to present our work and discuss what went well as well as what could be done better next time.

As the final part of our KWL journey we used Jamboard to share what we had learnt during investigate week collaboratively.

During Investigate Week we learned various joining techniques and through experimenting with different joining materials we were able to use the most appropriate joining material.

A book we read during Investigate Week was Man On The Moon. This story's main character is Bob. The purpose of building a diorama was to encourage tourists to visit space. Bob worked on the moon and was quite keen for us to help him attract more visitors! As you can see below, we worked very hard to create our wonderful dioramas. We used the joining technique that was proven to be most appropriate in securing various materials that we used to make our diorama.
