Accelerated Reader

Edison Elementary School uses the Accelerated Reader system to help to motivate students to read more through engaging quizzes, goal setting, and personalized recommendations. As students increase their reading skills, they develop greater reading stamina, word recognition, and language comprehension skills.  You can access this system at home anytime to see how your child is doing and set up email notifications when tests are taken.

Second grade students are assigned goals by their classroom teacher based on their STAR benchmark reading test.  Students can earn prizes for different point level achievements, starting at five points.  There are also four AR field trips that are held for second graders throughout the year.  In order to attend an AR field trip, your student must have met the reading goal in points and have at least at 80% accuracy.  The AR field trip dates are below:
