bristol family resource centers
Bristol Family Resource Centers provide collaborative, integrated and comprehensive services that strengthen families, promote the optimal development of children, and create strong school-family community partnerships.
We are funded by a State Department of Education grant, numerous local grants, support from within the schools, and the greater Bristol community. FRCs plan our programs according to the needs of each individual school, and meet 7 required core components. Some of our services include:
Parent as Teachers (PAT)
Developmental and social emotional Ages & Stages screening, PAT home visits for families with young children (prenatal to age 6) and Family Fun Play & Learn groups.
Family partnership home visits, Ages and Stages developmental screens, Sparkler app, targeted classes on parenting and more. Offered both on an individual and group basis.
Positive Youth Development
Social-emotional learning groups, student mentoring, BOOST, Raising Readers tutoring, family events, and much more.
Home Daycare and Kith and Kin Providers
"Helping Hands" Play and Learn groups.
*Kith and Kin providers are extended family or close friend who are responsible for the care of a child whether as a paid childcare provider or who has guardianship of a child.
Partnerships with School Service Providers
Birth to 5 social-emotional screens, staff support services and much more.
Family Support Activities
Spanish translation services, Family Breakfasts, parent support groups, weekend food backpacks, Reading is Fundamental (RIF) events with free book distributions, Raising Readers Parent Club, holiday sponsorship, emergency funding.
Community Partnerships and Collaborations
Back-to-school backpacks, holiday programs, active participation in community leadership groups, summer camp scholarships.
