BRISTOL FAMILY RESOURCE CENTERs

The Bristol Family Resource Centers are located at Greene-Hills, South Side and West Bristol Schools. There are about 57 FRCs in the State of Connecticut.

Bristol Family Resource Centers provide collaborative, integrated and comprehensive services that strengthen families, promote the optimal development of children, and create strong school-family-community partnerships.

We are funded by the State Department of Education, numerous local grants, and members of the Bristol community. Every FRC offers services to meet the needs of each individual school, but in keeping with 7 required core components. Some of our services include:

Parent as Teachers (PAT)

Developmental and social emotional Ages & Stages screenings, PAT personal visits for families with young children (prenatal to age 6), Families In Training (FIT) program creating partnership plans to support  family needs and more.

Parenting education 

Family partnership personal visits, Ages and Stages developmental screens, Sparkler app, Raising Readers Parent workshops, Parents Helping Parents groups, targeted classes on parenting and more. Offered both on an individual and group basis.

Positive Youth Development

Social-emotional learning groups, student mentoring, BOOST, Raising Readers tutoring, family events, Reading is Fundamental (RIF) events with free book distributions, Family Breakfasts, and much more.

HOME DAYCARE AND KITH &  KIN PROVIDERS

"Helping Hands" Play and Learn groups; support and professional training opportunities for home day care providers

*Kith and Kin providers are extended family or close friend who are responsible for the care of a child whether as a paid childcare provider or who has guardianship of a child when the parent is working.

PARTNERSHIPS WITH SCHOOL-BASED SERVICE PROVIDERS 

Pre-K and Kindergarten social-emotional screens, staff support services, outreach events, resources/referrals for Before and after school program and much more.


SCHOOL READINESS PROGRAMS/ CHILD CARE SUPPORTS

Collaboration with city wide school readiness child care programs, monthly case consultation meetings with community providers, Family Play and Learn groups and more. 


RESOURCES AND REFERRALS

Back-to-school backpacks, Spanish translation services, holiday programs, active participation in community leadership groups, summer camp scholarships, weekend food backpacks, and more.
