Here we will venture forth into the improbably possible worlds of science fiction. We will watch, read, talk, think, mostly explore the unknown--and by doing so, know the unknown. When we write, we'll be aware of rules from thermodynamics to robotics to the Six Traits of Writing: Ideas & Content, Organization, Voice, Word Choice, Sentence Fluency, and Convention. We will also develop and appreciate the skills of plot building, description enhancing, and character development. To some degree, this is a writing class in disguise.
