Precalculus
2020 - 2021
2020 - 2021
Pre calculus is the study of the mathematical prerequisites for calculus, including algebra, trigonometry and analytical geometry. The unusual thing about pre calculus topics is that they don’t directly involve calculus. Instead, they give students a strong foundation that will be used throughout their calculus studies.
This precalculus course is broken into three sections, each of which will be the focus of the three individual copernimesters. The first section helps establish strong fundamentals before moving on to look at functions and their behaviors. The second section involves trigonometry and develops a deeper understanding of the material. The third section, which is time dependent, explores limits, matrices and determinants, series and sequences, and probability.
The First Copernimester of the course will explore Fundamentals, Functions, Polynomial and Rational Functions, and Exponential and Logarithmic Functions.
The Second Copernimester of the course will focus on Trigonometric Functions of Real Numbers, Trigonometric Functions of Angles, and Analytic Trigonometry.
In the Third Copernimester of the course, students will study Limits, Matrices and Determinants, Series and Sequences, and Probability.
