Day-To-Day Class
Discussion/Debate: All readings & class material are gone over & discussed in the class as a whole
Group work/worksheets: Some work covers material in the reading, others such as exploring museum websites, utilize group activity for students to produce examples to present to the class as a whole.
Films: Biographies and documentaries of particular artists such as Van Gogh, Caravaggio and Bach are used to further explore the themes of the class.
Audio/Visual Demonstrations: Analysis of major visual art works and music compositions, demonstrated on the smartboard.
Projects
Graphic organizers: To help students organize their writing, or to chunk larger projects into smaller pieces, depending upon the student's learning profile
Backward planning: All projects contain multiple steps and advance due dates to encourage long-term segmented planning.
Metacognition/reflection: Annotated bibliographies and reflective portions of projects for students to further think about what they learned. All experiential and simulation activities contain this component.
Honors Options, mostly creative, for accelerated learners: More complex examinations of chosen aesthetic themes across a wider genre of examples - identifying thematic components across visual art, music and literature. Additional reading choices for projects and presentations in lab with emphasis on major works such as novels and plays.
