February 24th-Board of Education Meeting-6:00PM

Happy Valentines Day

First Grade virtual students celebrated Valentine's Day by creating virtual cards and sending caring messages to each other!

Perseverance is the latest and most sophisticated probe ever sent to Mars. After six months in space, it will reach the Red Planet on February 18th . After a harrowing descent through the Martian atmosphere, NASA engineers plan to use parachutes, retrorockets, and a long tether to bring this car-sized rover down in the midst of Jezero Crater. Every Mars landing is challenging, but this may be the most difficult landing yet, given the complex terrain of this ancient lake bed that scientists hope to explore for signs of water and past life.

Join NASA Solar System Ambassador and Hamptons Observatory Senior Educator, William Francis Taylor, to watch the landing LIVE via Zoom and to learn about the rover's mission. The livestream will come from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory during critical moments as NASA's engineers watch the spacecraft descend and wait for the first messages from Perseverance on the Martian surface.

Hamptons Observatory Senior Educator, William Francis Taylor, has been a NASA/JPL Solar System Ambassador since 2014, lecturing about the universe around us and sharing his love of the heavens by giving guided tours of the sky through telescopes. He is a life-long East End resident.

11th Grade SAT Review Classes

Winter SAT Prep 2021

Students in Ms. Lemon and Ms. Hansen's class have been working on a STEM project called "wind-powered sail cars," as part of their Pushes and Pulls science unit! The "wind" created by a fan was the force that pushed the sail cars from one point to another. Each student chose whatever materials they wanted to build their sail car with and conducted "test runs" over the course of a week so that they could make adjustments to their design. On the final day, students raced their sail cars to see which would move the fastest and farthest. Kindergarten is full of future engineers!

As you may have seen on the morning announcements, the month of February is "Choose Love Awareness Month." The Choose Love movement is based on a simple formula of courage, gratitude, forgiveness, and compassion. When practiced daily, these character values can create a chain reaction of happiness, health, and productivity throughout our school and community.

If you'd like to learn more about the Choose Love Program:

Kindergarten Cohort 1 learned how penguins protect baby chicks by playing a game trying to waddle across the room with the "chick egg" at their feet. Kindergarten scientists learned how penguin feathers are coated with oil to repel the water and keep them warm. We studied the parts of a penguin and celebrated with a yummy penguin treat!

Kindergarten Cohort 2 got into the Valentine’s spirit by cutting out hearts and decorating their winter tree with them. They have been placed in the hallway to spread the love!

Kindergarten Cohort 2 walking to the library in order to deliver thank you projects to thank the librarians for the “The Snowy Day” books that they received as a holiday gift.

Fourth grade celebrated Valentine's Day This Week. Fourth graders worked in teams of three to complete math challenges across their large Unlock the Love game board. Students moved their game token across the game board as they completed the challenges.

2nd Grade Cohort 2 received another letter from the book fairy asking for a special favor. She wants us to share our expert knowledge with our friends and classmates by turning the classroom into a museum! So she delivered a box of trifold boards for us to create exhibits! Stay tuned !

Make a difference in the Bridgehampton School Community.

Join the Bridgehampton School PTO today!

The Bridgehampton Parent Teacher Organization organizes special events for our school and assists those in need in our community. Membership dues and fundraisers benefit all Bridgehampton School students from Pre K through 12th grade. The PTO plans and hosts events like the Scholastic Book Fair, school pictures, Teacher Appreciation Breakfast and all-school BBQs that bring together students, parents and teachers for a communal meal. We enrich the school experience for students by providing scholarships, treats, entertainment, books and prizes.

PTO meetings are a great way to get to know other parents and teachers while working together to make a positive impact. Get involved today by contributing your ideas, talents, and time to help the PTO continue to enhance the Bridgehampton School community.

Suggested donation: $20 for the year, but any amount is appreciated!
