The third grade Social Studies class went on a walking trip this afternoon to the Town of Southampton’s Highway Departments’ Bridgehampton “Barn” to learn about our community and how it is kept safe and clean. On the way, students wore safety gloves, hats, and vests and collected garbage along our route to Corwith Avenue. Once we arrived, student received a demonstration lesson on safety and had the opportunity to sit in different equipment including the Town’s Bulldozer, SideWalk Sweeper, and Plow Truck. Students completed different activities, including hammering, shoveling, digging, how to use a screw driver and proper use of a rake and wheelbarrow.

The kids were complimented to and from the Corwith Avenue Job Site on keeping our community clean and they truly had a great time!

Mr. Alex Gregor, the Highway Superintendent, provided a special treat, Mister Softee Ice Cream truck, for all of our students as a thank you for helping out the Highway Department.

6^th grade participated in a distance learning event this week. The students were broken into four groups: evacuations, hurricane monitoring, volcano, and communications groups. A representative from the Challenger Learning Center was on the Smartboard to lead them through the event. They are well trained and will strive to save the people of Montserrat from an approaching hurricane and an erupting volcano.

Looking For A Job!!!

Looking For A Job For Your Child, The Noyac Golf Club Has

Maintenance Positions Open!!!

Students interested in golf, learning the day to day running of the golf course, learn landscaping and learn to use all involved golf course maintenance equipment.

Perks include free golf Monday through Wednesday after 4pm, flexible hours (maximize time at the beach), beautiful outside environment. The pay is $13 per hour.

For those students interested, this could lead to a career & career training.

The Town of Southampton Youth Bureau is currently accepting applications for their Broader Horizons Paid Internship program. This internship program allows student interns (ages 14 – 17) to work 20 hours a week from July 1^st – August 16^th. Students are placed in various jobs throughout the community or in town departments and will also receive 15 hours of job skills, career exploration, and money management training. All applications are due Monday, June 17^th. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me via email or phone.
