Zones of Regulation
At Bark River-Harris, in addition to TRAILS, we use The Zones of Regulation to help students build self-awareness, manage their emotions, and make positive decisions. The Zones framework teaches students to recognize how they are feeling, whether calm, excited, frustrated, or upset, and to use strategies that help them stay in control and ready to learn.
The program is organized into four color-coded “Zones”:
Blue Zone – low energy or sad feelings
Green Zone – calm, focused, ready-to-learn state
Yellow Zone – heightened alertness, anxious or wiggly feelings
Red Zone – very strong emotions such as anger or extreme excitement
Through guided lessons and activities, students learn to:
Identify their emotions and body signals.
Understand that all feelings are okay, but how we respond matters.
Build a personal “toolbox” of strategies to regulate emotions.
Reflect on their choices and make decisions that support their learning and relationships.
By using The Zones of Regulation for Tier 2 and 3 intervention groups, we are able to focus on reteaching skills to students and teach social emotional learning during What I Need (WIN) groups.
Conflict Resolution
Mrs. Wright offers a comphrensive conflict resolution with a problem-solving restorative circle. Whether it be a fight amongst friends or a misunderstanding between classmates these restorative circles have shown great results in reducing future altercations.
