Our team was founded in September of 2018. None of us knew about FIRST, and with our limited background in robotics, it was a bit of a struggle. This team was the first of its kind at our school. It allowed for different opportunities in engineering, publicity, finance, and competition. People from all different backgrounds came together and built a working robot and competed. This would not have been possible without our mentors, volunteers, members, and sponsors who have helped us along the way. Since then, as a team, we have grown to learn leadership and teamwork. Without the help of our crucial founding members, Brenden Fox, Edward Kaufman, Anthony Ayala, Akshay Gupta, and Lauren Knorr, we wouldn't have known where to begin. They paved the way for the following years to continue robotics and improve the team and ourselves.
Each year our team competes in a Regional FIRST competition. These competition requires each team to build a robot specifically for a themed task. Each theme requires a set of new ideas and a new robot, but the value of teamwork and gracious professionalism does not change. We also enjoy engaging with our community and inspiring younger students.
Our community is our top priority. We believe that the students of today are the leaders of the future. That is why we strive to teach our students to work with each other - to lay the foundation of working together to promote this strong culture of collaboration. Without these values, it's simply a group of individuals worrying about themselves. Working together and building trust allows us to accomplish our goals efficiently and thoroughly in the finite time that the competition season allows. If we can teach that to our community then our future shows promise.
