As we move into the future, it's becoming increasingly evident that technology is a fundamental part of our lives. It's essential for schools to incorporate computer literacy into their curricula to prepare students for what's to come. However, many schools, especially public schools, don't have the necessary resources to do so.
This is where Tech for Teaching comes in! Our club collects and repairs old laptops and other technology to donate to local schools in need. Once we've gathered enough, we visit these schools to install the equipment and interact with the students. This year, we're taking our service project to the next level by offering introductory coding classes using "Scratch" to further develop our relationships with these schools and to help students build problem-solving skills and coding fluency.
To continue our mission of helping local schools, we need your help! If you have any old computers (excluding printers), please consider donating them to our cause. You can drop them off at the Brent Upper School Office or send us an email at rcastaneda@brent.edu.ph. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of students who need it the most.
On March 23rd, the Geek Squad had the opportunity to embark on a meaningful donation trip to Zapote Elementary School. We are excited to share with you some of the heartwarming moments and experiences from our journey through this 1-minute video clip. We appreciate your generous contribution towards the Tech for Teaching project, and we hope to continue receiving your support to make a positive impact on the lives of these students. Â
