Social Distancing Sculptures
The pandemic has created new relationship structures. Inspired by the sculpture of Alberto Giacometti, these foil wrapped human figures represent the space we need to keep everyone safe. Acrostic poetry was added to express meaning. Click on the video links to hear the artists read their poems while showing their works.
Apart
Adapted to a new world
People are walking
All distanced
Roads are quiet
Till the day we all get together
Sena C, Grade 11
Jana P, Grade 12
MALL - from the Child's Perspective
Moving around a crowded place trying to social distance
Analyzing the stores and what is in them
All the people surrounding me are wearing masks
Leaning towards my mom because I want to wake up fast

WIDESPREAD
When can this pandemic end?;
I don't know how to feel anymore;
Distancing myself from others gets challenging;
Especially when I'm around loved ones;
Sadly, I cannot predict when this is will end;
Prison is what it feels like when I'm at home often;
Real-life gatherings are what I crave;
Especially when I'm at home every day;
Answer me this question if you will:;
Do you think the pandemic will end soon?
Frances R, Grade 11
Reach
Remember when we could touch?
Even I do not recall
All those things we cannot clutch
Call out to one and all
However far you may be
My hand will reach for yours
Even with the highest stakes
Social
S - sadness and sorrow

I - internal anxiety
A - All is and will be fine

Fallen
Fictional it feels
Absurd is the situation
Lockdown is enforced
Laughable is the situation
Energy is gone
Negativity everywhere
