MVMS offers three orchestra classes: Beginning Orchestra , Squire String Orchestra (7th grade), and Chamber Orchestra (8th grade).

Beginners are introduced to and taught the skills to be successful on the violin, viola, cello, or bass. By the end of the first year, students should have the skills to be successful in the String Orchestra Class

Squire String Orchestra picks up where beginning orchestra left off. Students are introduced to more advanced skills and concepts and gain more experience playing ensemble music. By the end of their second year in string orchestra, students will be prepared to participate in the 8th grade Chamber Orchestra Program

Students usually supply their own instruments, but instruments are available at low or no cost for students who are in need of them. Please contact Mr. Anderson or Ms. Reimer if you need information.

MVMS has two offerings for band. The Squire Cadet band for first year players, the Squire Symphonic Band for second and third year players (and beyond)

Beginners are introduced to and taught the skills to play flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, or percussion. Later in the year select students will branch out to a wider variety of instruments to fill out our instrumentation.

Symphonic Band introduces progressively more challenging repertoire and a wider variety of skills and concepts to prepare them for high school band.

Most students choose to rent or purchase their own instruments from a music store. The school has a variety of instruments available at no or low cost.

Music4Life

Bremerton School District partners with Music4Life to accept donations of used musical instruments. Using cash donations, Music4Life refurbishes those instruments and then provides them to the Bremerton School District to be loaned to students who otherwise would not be able to participate in a music program. If you have a used instrument you would like to donate, fill out this form, and drop off your donation at either Mountain View Middle School, or Ted Brown Music Co. Be sure to mark on the form that you want the donation to be directed to the Bremerton School District. For more information about Music4Life, please visit their website.
