About me

Music is very important to me personally, professionally, and in all other ways of affecting and experiencing the world. In 2012 I received my Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Eastern Michigan University (Ypsilanti, MI). In 2020 I received my Master's Degree in Music Education from Arizona State University (Tempe, AZ). After teaching instrumental and general music in Arizona for 7 years, I moved to Bremerton. I am currently teaching Kindergarten - 5th grade music at Armin Jahr Elementary School.

I don't exclusively use any single methodology for music pedagogy, but I incorporate elements from Orff Schulwerk, Kodaly, and Music Learning Theory in our music lessons. Of the roles I play as a teacher, among most important is co-creator of knowledge, skills, and experiences. Music at the elementary level should be safe, relevant, and fun for the students. My years of experience as a music educator have been about half secondary instrumental music and half elementary music. I am not currently teaching instrumental music, but if you have questions about any woodwind, brass, or percussion instruments for your 5th grade student I can probably help you.

I have two cats, Helo and Athena. They are terrified of people, but affectionate and adorable.
