I am a passionate high school educator with an enthusiasm for technology, design, problem solving, and fabrication which combines modern high tech design with traditional shop craft. In my classroom at Bremerton High School in Bremerton, Washington you are just as likely to see a student using a 3D solid modeling program to design an underwater robot as you are to see a student building an end grain cutting board out of oak and padauk. I feel very strongly that my classroom environment should be a place of growth not only in intellect, but in skill, which is why I've co-opted the motto of MIT "Mens et Manus" (Mind and Hand) and have placed it over my classroom door.
I've have been teaching since 2007 and have a bachelors degree in Technology Education and a Masters in Career and Technical Education. In addition I am a certified STEM Academy instructor with industry certifications in SolidWorks and Mastercam. I am also a certified architectural and mechanical drafter. In addition I'm also certified in Design Technology through the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum. I
I live with my wonderful wife, Kristin and our daughter Ada. In our free time we enjoy camping, hiking, kayaking, and cheering on the Seattle Sounders.
