Set Daily Routine & Expectations:
Create a flexible routine that balances structured learning time and student choice.
Chunk the day into manageable segments.
Listen to the internal teenage clock and allow for a later start to the day and a later bedtime, but keep sleeping routines consistent
Post the BHS Daily Schedule and review the night before.
Create a consistent place in the home for students to engage in school.
Stay Connected to BHS Staff:

Empower Ownership of Learning:
Parents are not expected to be full-time teachers or content experts
Productive struggle is allowed and expected.
Provide support and guidance, but allow your child to practice becoming an independent learner.
Allow time for the adjustment to online learning and just know that it is okay to give breaks.
Encourage digital collaboration, online study groups, and social time with peers.
Help Manage Stress & Self-Care:
Emotions will vary day-to-day, hour-to-hour, minute-to-minute. This is to be expected. Help your child to name their emotions and create a patient plan to improve moods.
Do daily check-ins: ask questions, check on progress, remove barriers, set a goal for the following day.
Some students will thrive in distance learning and some will struggle with it. BHS has multiple levels of support and interventions ready when needed.
