Frequently Asked Questions
Q. I state validated my animal but I want to show at Stephens County Junior Livestock Show. Do I still need to attend county validation?
A. Yes. You will need to enter the county show at the scheudled county validation site, however your animal does not need to attend to be county tagged/validated IF and ONLY IF they have already been state validated. If this does not make snese please reach out to your FFA advisor!
Q. Where do I enter the Herdsmen competition?
A. On your county entry card you will select HERDSMEN APPLICANT
Q. What is family validation?
A. Family validation allows family members who live in the same household to exhibit shared animals. This is highly recommended
Q. What is state validation?
A. For an animal to be shown at Major Livestock Shows they must be state tagged/validated. An animal must be state and county validated under the same exhibitor/family.
Q. What is the difference in premium sale and sending my animal to the floor?
A. In the premium sale the exhibitor "sells" one animal and receives a premium check. They then retain ownership of their animals. If an exhibitor chooses to sell to the floor, they will receive an additional floor check (market price) by they do not take their animal home.
Q. Can I sell two animals at SCJLS?
A. No. Each exhibitor can enter as many animals as they want BUT they can ONLY take 1 animal through the premium sale. Exhibitors have 30 minutes following their last class to inform the show office which animal they intend to sell. There is no limit on animals sent to the floor
Q. Can I skip the mandatory clean up?
A. Sure - if you want to donate $100 of your SCJLS check to the scholarship fund
Q. Can someone else show my animal?
A. Only if you family validated that animal and they are exhibitor listed OR you have multiple animals in one class. If you have multiple animals in a class, the person showing your animal must be another SCJLS exhibitor.
