Branson R-IV Technology Dept.

In the Branson Public Schools Technology Department:

We strive to be approachable, patient and reassuring.

We should solve issues quickly, communicate frequently and verify resolution.

Technology is ingrained in nearly everything we do. It is our goal to provide services and support so that technology tools can be used to connect our students to the curriculum and the world. We hope that this page will serve as a landing spot for all users. You will find everything from helpful links and articles to our very own Branson Apps and Resources Status page. Thanks for visiting!

Tuesday, 12/04/17: Google Problems!

Google is currently experiencing a massive failure on a multi-state level that is causing Chromebooks to lose their network configurations. This means that they will lose their connection to the wifi. We already have hundreds that are affected and chances are that number will go up dramatically as the day goes on. You are welcome to continue to try to work as normal but please know that this problem can come up at any time and we have no control over it. You are more than welcome to try to continue with your instruction as planned. However, properly powering down the chromebook is most likely the best way to guarantee that we won't have prolonged outages past today.

See message below copied from Google:

There is an ongoing outage on our end, where the Network policy from the Admin console is not correctly reaching the Chromebooks, effectively making them forget their network credentials. Our engineering team is actively working on the issue on our end, but I don't have an exact ETA. Please do not make any changes to the network settings in the Admin console in the meantime, as it is highly likely that they'll look towards rolling our servers back to a previous state.

Friday, 11/03/17: BIG NEWS!!!!!

We have a new Technology Workorder system. Here's a copy of the email that went out today:

Happy Friday from the Tech Department. We've been working hard to continuously improve to provide all faculty and staff with the highest level of support possible. In line with this effort, we are excited to roll out the new and vastly improved Technology Helpdesk solution. This is where you will make all technology work-orders.

Before we get to far, it is imperative to note that Trip and Maintenance requests will still be made through Schooldude.

For technology, you will now need to go to the following link:

{Bookmark this in Chrome! This will also be placed in BSD bookmarks as well as all other places on the district and tech department website.

Log in using the same username and password you use for Novell (network/log into your computer #youdontneedthe@branson....).

Fill out the required fields in the SIMPLE form and hit submit. You will be able to view your open and closed requests as well as update your profile. We just need your first and last name and extension(s). Don't worry though, I will be updating profiles as they come in.

We're still learning this too but we are excited about refreshing this solution. Contact the Technology Office at 9800 if you have any questions and concerns.

And don't forget to follow us on Twitter! There's a lot going on and you don't want to miss out!

Friday, 11/03/17: Ever used the snipping tool? I use it daily! Here's a great how-to guide. Once you open it, right-click the icon at the bottom (taskbar) and select "pin to taskbar" so you can get to it quick.

Tuesday, 10/03/17: Check out this great document to learn how to cast any screen onto any other screen (helpful for showing student examples to the class).
