Welcome to Room 21
Welcome to Room 21
Hello and welcome! I’m so excited to have you and your child join our Kindergarten family here at Oakwood Elementary School. Room 21 is a special place where curiosity is encouraged, friendships are formed, and learning comes to life. I’m truly honored to be part of your child’s journey during this important first year of school.
In our classroom, I focus on building strong foundations in academics, social-emotional growth, and independence. Through hands-on activities, play-based learning, and a warm, supportive environment, I aim to make each day fun, meaningful, and full of discovery.
A little about me—I’m not just a teacher, but also a proud Brandon graduate - class of 1993! I have two grown kids of my own: Julian, who is in his third year at Kettering University, and Stella, who is beginning her first year at the University of Michigan. They are both graduates of Brandon as well! At home with my husband Jeff, we share our lives with four beloved pets: our dogs Remy and Olive, and our cats Mittens and Jedi. Life is always full of love, laughter, and a little bit of chaos!
I believe that strong communication and collaboration between home and school are key to a successful year. I look forward to partnering with you to support your child every step of the way.
Thank you for trusting me with this exciting chapter in your child’s life. I can’t wait to learn, grow, and have a wonderful year together in Room 21!
Warmly,
Katherine Zielke
