My name is Kristen Bowers and I will be your child’s teacher this year. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and to let you know a few things about me.
This is my nineteenth year in the Brandon School District. I began my teaching career looping between first and second grades at H.T. Burt and then moved to Oakwood when the new building was built. Now, I teach only second grade and LOVE every minute of it! I thoroughly enjoy getting to know each and every child and family each year.
Academically, I graduated from Oakland University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, with minors in science, social studies, and math. I then chose to continue my education and received my Master’s Degree in the Art of Teaching from Marygrove College. Each year, I continue my education by taking a variety of classes through local colleges.
I have been married to my husband Joe for 21 years. We have a fabulous son named Reece who is ten years old and definitely keeps us on our toes! We also have a beautiful little girl named Ryleigh, who is five. We have a German shepherd named Sadie. She is two years old. In our spare time, we love to go camping, go on off road trips, spend time at the lake, and hang out with one another.
Learning is extremely important to me. We all continue to learn each and every day. I strive to provide an engaging, yet safe and consistent environment for your child. Children in our class become part of Room 28’s family and grow socially, emotionally, and academically on a daily basis. We create a classroom of “thinkers”, where each of us pushes one another to be the best that we can be by encouraging, challenging, and supporting one another.
I look forward to getting to know each of you throughout this year. We will all work collaboratively to enhance your child’s education.
