About Me

I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little bit about myself. I am proud to say in the 2023-2024 school year, I will be launching my 30th year teaching at Brandon Middle School! I began in 1992, which was the first year that the middle school was housed within Brandon High School.

I graduated from Central Michigan University in 1990 with a degree in Secondary Education, with a Spanish major and Mathematics minor. Part of my studies included living with a family and taking classes in Morelia, Michoacán in México. I am still in contact with the family that I lived with.

I subbed for a little over a year before finding my full-time home with Brandon Schools. Throughout the years I have taught various levels of Spanish and math, computers, drama, ELA, and helped run Student Council and Homework Club. I have been teaching long enough that for a number of years now, I have been blessed with having the children of previous students in my classroom, and through social media I have stayed connected to numerous former students.

My husband and I have two children. Our daughter Julie, 24, completed the Early College of Macomb program while in high school, then transferred to Wayne State to major in Global Studies, and double minor in Asian Studies & Linguistics. She teaches at the Detroit Zoo summer camp, has one more year of college to complete (due to the pandemic) and plans to teach English abroad once she completes her degree. Camilla, 22, graduated from Central Michigan University, majoring in Math, double minoring in Nuclear Astrophysics and Computer Science, but is now pursuing her passion with a career in culinary. My husband works for Corewell Hospitals (formerly Beaumont) in Cybersecurity. As a family, we love traveling to northern Michigan, including Port Austin, Oscoda, and the UP, and also to St. Pete Beach, Florida. My personal interests are photography, traveling, Euchre, and spending time with family.

Parents are a child’s first educator and I believe if we work together, your child can succeed and find their passion. You can expect open communication and understanding from me. I will be willing to assist you and your child with any education concern or conflict you may have. I am very excited and am looking forward to a great school year!
