Apps and Sites Needed For Distance Learning

Before we left school for this at home learning, we were seeing the incredible progress and hard work your kiddos were making with their writing. I want to see it continue and want to share a few things with you when having your child write at home. Encourage your kiddos to continue to stretch out their words and write what they hear (Invented Spelling) when doing their writing homework or any writing for that matter. They have learned many tools during our reading/writing/phonics lessons to sound out words in different ways, and to record each sound that they hear. This just might mean that ball is spelled bol, or elephant is spelled elafint. This is one of the most important parts of the reading/writing/phonic process. Invented spelling is incredibly important and helps build not only their phonemic awareness, but their confidence and willingness to take risks in their writing. I also encourage you to let them do this when they are typing responses on Seesaw and emails that they are sending.
