Math 8A: Introduction to Probability and Statistics, Summer 2025: Discrete probability spaces, random variables, expectation, variance, approximation by the normal curve, sample mean and variance, and confidence intervals
Math 10A: Techniques of Calculus I, Fall 2022, Spring 2023, Fall 2023, Spring 2024: Introduction to differential (and some integral) calculus of one variable, with emphasis on techniques and applications.
A Friendly Introduction to Cryptography, Spring 2025: modular arithmetic, congruences, and quadratic reciprocity. Most of our time will be spent discussing public key cryptosystems, such as Diffie-Hellman and RSA, as well as some real-world applications. If time permits, we will talk about primality and factoring and about applications of elliptic curves.
