Global Movements and Media

These five course proposals trace the histories of global movements and their implications for women's activism. From social revolution to development discourse, they focus attention on transnational forces that have shaped activism, as well as the complex interrelations that have characterized feminist movements across national boundaries. The authors stress the importance of complicating dominant narratives of historical "moments" while attending to the parallels that recur in women's lives around the globe.
