The Nandar Su
I am the lab manager here at the Kadener lab. I joined in Sep 2023 after completing my Masters from Juniata College in PA. When I'm not at work, I like to read, watch movies, and go on little adventures when the weather is nice outside (i.e below 22C).

Post-Doctoral Associates
Ane Martin Anduaga
I studied Biomedical Sciences in the University of Barcelona and got my Ph.D. in Genetics in the University of Leicester working under the guidance of Prof. Bambos Kyriacou. I joined the Kadener lab in 2018 where I study the effect of temperature upon the circadian clock of Drosophila melanogaster. In my free time, I enjoy getting together with friends and family, relaxing on the beach, a good book, and making crafts.

Yingshi Peng
I joined the Kadener lab in 2024 as a postdoc. Before coming to Brandeis, I obtained my Ph.D. degree in the lab of Prof. Elizabeth R. Gavis at Princeton University where I studied translational control of maternal transcripts in developing Drosophila oocytes. Outside of lab, I enjoy running, skiing, and photography.

Graduate Students
Nathan Brownstein
Nathan is a senior grad student from Connecticut. He earned his BA in biochemistry and molecular biology from the College of Wooster in 2018. In his spare time he plays the trumpet, tennis, paints miniature figures, and worries.

Jazmin Morales
Jazmin is currently investigating how circRNA levels change at synapses and whether they are modulated by neuronal activity.
jmorales[at]brandeis[dot]edu
Michael Canori
Michael is currently investigating the molecular mechanism of muscleblind in the Drosophila nervous system.

Sayan Biswas
Sayan is originally from India where he completed his undergraduate training in Electrical Enginering at Jadavpur University, Kolkata. Prior to coming to Brandeis, Sayan worked in the Bangalore Life Science Cluster, India as a research fellow. Sayan is a graduate student in the Molecular and Cell Biology program at Brandeis and he is investigating the role of circRNA in aging and neurodegeneration.

Angele Louis-Jean
In the Drosophila, ultradian rhythm entails shorter recurring cycles (from milliseconds to hours) within a 24hr period. The timescale of the ultradian rhythm is broad and not much is known about the mechanisms behind this regulation. Therefore, I am interested in studying the molecular mechanisms of ultradian rhythm and its relationship with the circadian clock in the Drosophila. I am using genetics and single-cell sequencing in adult flies to answer these questions. I enjoy reading, trying new food, and recently learning crochet.

Teddy Rashkover
After graduating from Cornell Engineering (2022), having worked two charming stints as an electrical engineer, I now contribute to the Kadener Lab’s bioinformatics research. My current research concerns the unique patterns of circadian oscillation in glial cells. My hobbies include hiking, rock climbing, playing music, and watching particularly subtle movies.

Shruti Jha
Shruti did her BS in Medical Microbiology from Pokhara University in Nepal and her MS in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Bern in Switzerland. She is interested in the RNA biology of the cell, in particular neurons. She enjoys indoor games, cooking, and hiking whenever she gets a chance.

Undergraduates
Japhy Theobald
Japhy is an undergrad studying Biochemistry at Brandeis University, working as a research assistant. He is always ready to talk about music and is an amateur musician playing the drums. You can find him in a hoodie, wandering the lab.
