Did you know? 75% of the world’s food comes from just 12 plant and five animal species. The Future 50 foods are diverse plant-based foods from around the world that can boost the nutritional value of our meals while reducing the environmental impact of our food supply.

Monday, April 25

  • Lunch: Meatless Monday in Sherman

  • 12-1 PM, Library, Gardner Jackson room (in Goldfarb mezzanine): Citizen science event with Prof. Colleen Hitchcock

  • 11-3 PM, SCC Atrium: Clothing and book swap/donation

  • Dinner: Harvest of the month in Lower Usdan - Carrot Takeover

Tuesday, April 26

  • 12:30 - 3 PM outside of Usdan: Environmental justice jeopardy

  • 6 PM, Skyline MPR: screening of Fast Fashion: The Real Cost of Low-Cost Fashion

  • Dinner: Special Earth Day dinner in Sherman highlighting local/sustainable foods

Wednesday, April 27

  • 11 AM - 12 PMTree/nature walk, meet in front of Schwartz: go on a nature walk led by tree class TAs!!

  • 12 - 1 PM, Olin-Sang 201: Talking climate with Prof. Sally Warner

    • The science of why we need to reduce carbon emissions; the most impactful actions (both personal and systemic); and ways that any student at Brandeis — no matter what their major — can make the biggest difference by finding a climate/sustainability-related career.

  • 1 PM, Chapels Field: Yoga in Nature!

Thursday, April 28

  • 12 - 1 PM Fellows Garden: Weeding with Herbicide Free Brandeis

  • 3:30 -5 PM, outside Usdan: Make your own pot & plant a seed to grow something in your room! Bring your own container or use one of ours.

  • 5:15 PM, Chapels Field (rain location Harlan Chapel), Zen Zone Nature Meditation

  • Sherman: Kosher side will be featuring Red’s Best fish & tabling event

    • Red's Best features underutilized species or by-catch, thus making local seafood consumption sustainable by utilizing fishermen's full catch, introducing new varieties of fish, and ensuring a fisherman can sell the day's catch, making their costs to fish a worthwhile investment.

Friday, April 29: Earthfest!

  • Earthfest: A celebration of the spectacular Earth to which we belong, with hands-on activities for learning, acting, and appreciating

    • 1-2 PM, SCC Multipurpose Room: "When the Land Speaks: A Journey into the Stories, Songs and Culture of the Living Presence of Nipmuc People," with Larry Spotted Crow Mann

    • 1-3 PM, Fellows Garden & Booths (rain location is SCC Atrium from 2-3pm following the above event): Education, advocacy, arts, music, and food

    • 3 PM+, G'zang roof: Rooftop garden planting and revitalization
