Research Interests
The primary focus of my research interest is understanding the unique properties and behavior of materials and interfaces, using first-principles quantum mechanical calculations based mostly on density functional theory. A detailed microscopic study at the most fundamental level using atomistic first-principles (ab initio) quantum-mechanical calculations can shed light on complex relationships between composition, structure, and physical properties of functional materials that result from the intriguing interplay of charge, spin, orbital, and lattice degrees of freedom therein. My overarching interest in material systems lies at length scales ranging from the nano to the macro scale. I am particularly interested in the study of material properties that are directly experimentally observable.
