Now that you have explored and examined a number of problems and issues, you will now be tasked with narrowing down to one major problem or issue you wish to focus on for your civic action project. For some of you, it is a no-brainer, and you know exactly (or knew all along) what issue you would be focusing on. For others, especially if you are working as an entire class or in a team, this might be more challenging than trying to think of any problem or issue to focus on!
Of the problems and issues you have examined, choose no more than your top eight (8) that you agree to focus on. Randomly assign (pick out of a hat?) each problem or issue in an 8-spot bracket. Engage in conversations about the two problems or issues that are paired together and choose the one that you feel is more pressing, then continue the process until you have two remaining problems or issues to consider. Engage in a candid conversation about which problem or issue should become the problem or issue to focus on.
