In this module, you will discuss researched problems and select one for in-depth study. The class or teams will conduct further research on the chosen problem or issue.
Now that you have explored a number of pressing problems or issues that our region, state, and country are facing, it is time to begin thinking about which of the problems or issues matter most to you. The first step is to prepare and perform a gallery walk exercise, where you will review the problems and issues you initially explored but also learn other problems or issues that your fellow classmates explored.
For each problem or issue that you explored, you will be tasked to prepare an infographic. An infographic is typically a collection of imagery and data visualizations such as a pie chart or bar graph, used to represent information or data. Text is kept to a minimum; usually just the title. Here are some examples of infographics.
Prepare infographics of the problems or issues that you examined.
Post infographics around the classroom.
Perform a gallery walk and read the different problems or issues presented.
Rank the problem or issue by level of immediate concern or importance.
If you had to make a first choice, second choice, and third choice to focus on for your civic action project, what would they be? How are your choices most important to you and society?
What would you like to see happen to address the problem or issue? Is there something you can do about it?
