No work is assigned during fall break if you are on target for completion (and MOST of you are!) If not, this is a perfect opportunity for you to catch up and not acquire any absences due to truancy.

Greetings BCVS STEM Explorers!
The BCVS STEM Explorers will meet this Monday, October 12, 2026 from 1:00-2:00 PM. Be sure to bring your Chromebook!! We will meet at the PIE Center CORE entrance (where the flagpole is) for drop-off and pick-up. Students will work in the Bradley County Schools STEM Hub located at the PIE Innovation Center for our STEM challenge activity. Ms. Betsy Clem, an Innovation Specialist with Bradley County Schools, is the sponsor of this event. Mr. Jason Viviano and Ms. Pam Coleman, Co-Coordinators of the BCS STEM Hub, will also be working with our STEM Explorers.

TECH GOES HOME FOR TEENS
The public library is excited to offer an opportunity for students to get a free Chromebook. They still need three students to register in order to have the class.
Provided by Tech Goes Home Chattanooga (https://www.techgoeshomecha.org/), this is a creative class that will instruct students on the use of word processing, web forms, spreadsheets, and presentation software so that they can properly format writing assignments, research papers, charts, budgets, resumes, and formal presentations according to the particular instructions required by high school and college teachers or in future career settings. They will also learn proper organization of a Google drive, sharing and team editing files, and uploading/downloading documents. The final project will be a topical presentation using all of these tools. No previous computer experience is needed, but each student must have his/her own Google account.
REGISTRATION REQUIRED FOR PARTICIPATION. Registration is currently open.
Please come to the Children's department to register your student. At the time of registration, a $20 deposit (in cash or check form) is required to hold your space on the student roster. This deposit will be refunded at the end of the class.

This is the last week of class before Fall Break! I have been watching student progress and I’m thrilled to see so many of our students working AHEAD of schedule. For the few students who are behind, working on curriculum when no work is assigned is how you catch up. Weekends and Fall Break are a great time for that.

Unfortunately, some middle school students are still not completing IReady requirements. Every week that this is not complete accrues an absence toward truancy. Please refer to the email sent out by Mrs. Hambright regarding IReady requirements:
Good morning!
I have gone over this several times in our zoom meetings, but wanted to follow up again. You have I-ready due weekly in math and ELA . The week starts on Sunday and goes to Saturday for my class. I know I-ready gives a different time, and we have discussed this. Sunday to Saturday fits in with your school schedule better, and that is what is used. If you do not complete your I-ready during the Sunday-Saturday time for the week, it is an absence.

I would like to invite Bradley County Virtual School 10th graders to join us for Pie Palooza!
Event Details:
Tuesday september 29th
Time: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
• Location: Pi-E Center
During the event, students will have the opportunity to tour the PIE Center, learn about the programs and opportunities we offer, and meet with various industry and educational partners during the career fair.
Please let us know if you have any questions or need additional details to help coordinate student attendance. We look forward to hosting your students!
Edgenuity, our online curriculum, sometimes has issues with specific lessons, assignments, and submitions. It is helpful for students to report these issues directly to Edgenuity (and the teacher) when this happens. Students can take a screenshot that includes their name & the lesson, then email it to support@imaginelearning.com. Mention you are from Bradley County Virtual School in Bradley County. During business hours, students can call 877.202.0338 for an immediate response. Reporting these issues helps every person enrolled.
Also in Edgenuity, students have two opportunities to take any quiz or test. A few students have reached out because their quiz froze, they had to refresh, and then the questions were locked. If you get locked out of a quiz, you can submit it, then take it again. You can also take a second quiz if you are unhappy with your grade. Only after the second quiz do you need to provide guided notes to add an additional try.
Our Innovation Specialist, Mrs. Clem, has shared an awesome opportunity for 20 students to learn tech skills and earn a chromebook at the Cleveland Public Library. The email is below, and the flyer is attached.

October registrations are now open and available to the first 15 students (aged 13-18) on a first come, first serve basis. One important detail: This class is the last one available for this grant cycle. There will not be a class for the month of November.

Bradley County Schools is offering an opportunity for our students to receive flu shots. If you are interested in your students participating, please scan the QR code and complete the consent form.
All SENIORS are STRONGLY encouraged to participate in the FREE ACT retake on Oct 1 in Wacker Commons in the PIE Center! Bradley County Schools has provided all students a series of ACT Prep material. Please click the link and start working through the slides.
Students that plan to take the ACT on Thursday must report between 7:30 and 7:45 am on Thursday October 1st to the BCVS office. Please park in the lot on Parker street, walk across to the rusty awning and use the call box to enter the building. OMS parents will also be dropping off their students during this time, so please anticipate traffic delays.

Good Afternoon BCVS Family!
We have had a full and productive week where students were learning and doing remarkable activities in clubs. I witnessed students designing their own name plates and 3D modeling, being active and having fun in sports, learning the law, playing games, sketching gestures and movement, and enjoying ice cream from Sprinklez! BCVS also showed up and showed out at our PIE open house. I'm thrilled to see our students utilizing the opportunities BCS has to offer.

Welcome to Books and Banter!
Now that we have finalized the "Who" in the club, it's time to talk about the "when", "where", and "what"! And there are some changes, so please read this carefully:
Because of the closing hours of Ruddles Book and Bread, the time has been moved from 3:30 to 3:00 PM. We will begin promptly at 3:00 and finish just as promptly at 4:00 PM when they close. Ruddles located at 241 Inman Street E in Cleveland. Note-- there is parking and an entrance on the back side of the building, actually located on first street. If you love coffee, tea and bakery items, bring some money so we can banter and enjoy a snack. The owners of this place are really kind, so let's show them the love in return.
This month's read is Upgrade by Blake Crouch - it is sci-fi and it is fabulous! This book should be widely available at the library and on Libby (if you have a library card, download this app and read it on the Libby app for free). The hyperlink will take you to it on Amazon. Because we are quickly coming upon the original date we were supposed to meet, and there's not a lot of time to read the book (I know some of you are already done), I am moving our first meeting to Thursday, September 24th. This should give you enough time to finish and be ready for our banter.
And so we can save you another trip to the library, I've gone ahead and chosen October's book. It is The Grace Year by Kim Liggett. It's dystopian, but definitely has some spooky vibes in there too. It's a great read for the fall season.

Important - Attendance Policy Review
Earlier this week Mr. Hambright emailed every student regarding the BCVS attendance policy. Please read it below.
Dear Parent/Guardian,
To ensure your student stays on track for a successful school year at Bradley County Virtual School, please review our comprehensive attendance policies and participation expectations.
Daily Work Progress & Target Completion
Virtual schools in Tennessee are required to meet the equivalent of 180 days of instruction and 6.5 hours per day per academic year pursuant to T.C.A. § 49-6-3004.
"Target Completion" percentages are calculated every school day. Students are required daily to meet these target completion rates; otherwise, they will be considered absent for all or part of the school day.
When an absence occurs, the student must complete all missing work within the current week (Monday through Saturday).
If an absence extends beyond one week, a doctor’s excuse must be submitted.
Students missing the equivalent of six (6) or more school days will be referred to Bradley County Campus Court under the Bradley County Schools Truancy Plan. Students are encouraged to work ahead to plan for upcoming absences.
Mandatory Meetings, Zoom Attendance, & In-Person Events
An absence from a scheduled meeting (such as with an advisor or principal) or a mandatory event—including Zoom class meetings, EOC/TCAP testing, state testing, or ACT Bootcamp—will be recorded on the exact day the event occurs.
If a student fails to attend a required monthly in-person event or its equivalent, the absence will be recorded on the final school day of the month.
Middle School i-Ready Requirements
Middle school students must maintain regular progress and complete required diagnostic/instructional minutes on i-Ready. Missing scheduled i-Ready testing or required weekly minutes impacts overall progress tracking and will be documented as missed instructional time.

Good afternoon seniors!
TN offers an ACT Senior Retake at no charge for our students. The BVCS Senior Retake for the ACT is scheduled for October 1, 2026. All public school students must take the ACT during their junior or senior year of high school. If you already have an ACT score on file, you are not required to retake the ACT senior retake. If you are unsure of your ACT score, check with Mrs. Hambright or Mrs. Runyan. Please discuss this with a parent or guardian and then click the link below to complete the questions by Monday, August 31. You must be logged into your school email to respond.

We have a full and exciting upcoming week as many clubs are meeting for the first time this Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Esports meets on Monday! Students in the ESports club received the following email from Mr. Cofer:
Good Morning, Everyone!
I'm Mr. Cofer, and if you are receiving this email, it means that you/your student has been selected for the ESports Virtual School Club!
In this email will be some important information:
1. I am attaching a permission form for parents to fill out. Please fill it out and send it back to me, or send it with your student on the first club day. Email is better, but physical is perfectly fine.
2. I may have doubled up on some parent emails. I only need one form.
3. I will put the dates at the end of this email. All meetings will be at GOAL Academy. Please drop your student off and pick them up at the GOAL Academy entrance in the PIE Center.
Come in from the road that is between PIE and Ocoee/Baseball Field from Parker Street. It is a one way around PIE, so you won't be able to come in from the Wacker Commons way. This is the road that splits going up toward Ocoee Street where you can go all the way through or turn right into PIE.
4. All club meetings will be from 3:45 to 4:45, and they will all be on Mondays. Should any changes need to occur, I will communicate as far in advance as possible.

The BCVS STEM Explorers will meet this Monday, September 14, 2026 from 1:00-2:00 PM. Be sure to bring your Chromebook!! We will meet at the PIE Center CORE entrance (where the flagpole is) for drop-off and pick-up. Students will work in the Bradley County Schools STEM Hub located at the PIE Innovation Center for our STEM challenge activity. Ms. Betsy Clem, an Innovation Specialist with Bradley County Schools, is the sponsor of this event. Mr. Jason Viviano and Ms. Pam Coleman, Co-Coordinators of the BCS STEM Hub, will also be working with our STEM Explorers.
Our Activity
We will be using our Chromebooks for a computer science activity. Be sure to bring a charged Chromebook.

Art Club Meets on Thursday at GOAL from 4:30-5:30! Our first meeting was cancelled due to the extreme heat. I can't wait to see what you create!
At BCVS, all students are assigned an Advisory Teacher based on grade level. This teacher reviews each student's progress, provides input, encouragement and advice, and can answer any concerns you may have. Students are required to meet with an advisor monthly via phone or zoom. The visit is short but important, and will count as an absence if it is missed.
Juniors and Seniors have a mandatory Drop-In zoom with their Advisor, Mr. Peltier on 9/24 any time between 3-5pm. Each student will individually conference for about 5 minutes. Mr. Peliter will email all students the zoom link. Missing this appointment will result in an absence toward truancy. Please make other arrangements to meet with Mr. Peltier prior to 9/24 if you have a conflict. gpeltier@bradleyschools.org
Progress Reports for brick-and-mortar schools went home last Friday, but BCVS parents have access to students' grades, live! All parents should be receiving an email update directly from Edgenuity. If you are not and would like updates, please respond to this email.
Many Middle School students received an email from Mrs. Hambright regarding IReady. All middle school students are required to complete 45 minutes of IReady reading and math in addition to Edgenuity coursework. Not completing IReady results in an absence that counts toward truancy.
You did not complete your required 45 minutes and a lesson passed in I-ready ELA last week. This is a weekly requirement for both ELA and math. Going forward, make sure you incorporate this into your school work schedule.

Hello BCVS Seniors ,
I am reaching out because our records currently show that you have not yet completed the TN Promise application for the Class of 2027.
The final TN Promise application deadline is November 2, but I strongly encourage students to complete it as soon as possible rather than waiting until the deadline. The next Direct Admissions pull is scheduled for September 8th, so let's get it completed prior to that day!!
TN Promise is an important opportunity for Tennessee seniors. It can provide eligible students with a last-dollar scholarship to attend participating Tennessee community colleges and colleges of applied technology, along with additional support throughout the college-going process.
Even if you are currently planning to attend a university, private college, enter the workforce, join the military, or is simply unsure about plans after graduation, I still encourage every BCVS senior to complete TN Promise.
Completing TN Promise does not commit you to attending a particular college. It simply keeps an additional opportunity available while students make their final plans. Plans can change significantly during senior year, and it is much easier to keep this option open now than to discover later that a deadline was missed.
This year, the TN Promise process is also connected to Tennessee's Direct Admissions initiative. Through Direct Admissions, eligible students may receive admission opportunities from participating Tennessee colleges and universities based on information submitted through the process. This can give students additional college options without requiring them to begin with a traditional application to every participating institution.

Students should:
Create or access their TSAC Student Portal account (Instructions are attached!)
Complete the TN Promise application for the Class of 2027.
Use a personal email address rather than a school email whenever possible. Students will need access to this account after graduation.
Carefully enter all requested information and make sure it is accurate.
Submit the application and save any confirmation information.
Students will need their Social Security number to complete the process. When entering graduation information, BCVS seniors should use their expected graduation date of May 14, 2027.

Also, completing TN Promise or participating in Direct Admissions does not require a student to enroll at any school that appears as an option. Students are still free to apply to, consider, and ultimately attend the college, university, technical college, military program, or other post secondary option that is the best fit for them.
My goal is for every BCVS senior to complete TN Promise so that no student accidentally closes a door simply because an application deadline passed.
If you are having difficulty creating your TSAC account, accessing the TN Promise application, or completing any part of the process, please reach out to me. I am happy to help you work through it.
Please do not wait until November. If you have not completed TN Promise, I strongly encourage you to take care of it as soon as possible. There are 9 seniors to go until we reach our goal!!
