Good Afternoon BCVS family!
I am proud of so many students being ahead of their target progress. Keep up the good work!
Bradley County Schools are closed on Monday February 16th for Presidents Day, and no work is assigned in Edgenuity. Working on a course when no assignments are due is an EXCELLENT and fast way to get a few days ahead or catch up. Any student who received an email from Mr. Hambright should take this into consideration going into the long weekend.
Senior Photo make-up day is Tuesday March 3th, time is still to be determined.
Seniors - Check the end dates of your courses. All SENIOR courses must be completed by MAY 1st. Respond to this email if you have a course with the wrong end date.
JUNIORS - The ACT is right around the corner! Make sure March 18th & 19th from 4-6pm and March 24th 8-1 are blocked off on your calendar for mandatory ACT bootcamp and testing. Get a head start by reviewing week 17-20 ACT Prep lessons.

Here are some helpful reminders from our Instructional Technology team to keep our digital community safe:
How to Spot SPAM or Phishing Emails
Unexpected or unusual senders: If you don’t recognize the sender—or the email seems out of character—proceed with caution.
Urgent or threatening language: Messages that pressure you to act immediately (e.g., “Your account will be closed!”) are common phishing tactics.
Suspicious links or attachments: Hover over links before clicking to check their true destination. Never open unexpected attachments.
Requests for personal information: Legitimate organizations will NOT ask for passwords, Social Security numbers, or financial information through email.
Spelling, formatting, or grammar issues: Many phishing emails contain unusual phrasing or errors.
Always look at the email address of the sender. BCS does not send messages from non-BCS accounts.
What To Do If You’re Unsure:
Do not click any links or open attachments.
Do not reply to the message.
Report it immediately by forwarding the email to the Instructional Technology team
Delete the message from your inbox once reported.
General Best Practices
Keep your district devices updated.
Use strong, unique passwords and enable multi-factor authentication where available.
Log out of shared devices when you are done using them.
Regularly review account activity for anything unusual.

Have a lovely weekend and productive week!
Good afternoon BCVS family!
The new semester is in full swing, and these scholars are MOVING through work! I am happy to see so many students taking initiative to get a few extra days ahead.
Edgenuity scans all work for time-spent, AI and plagiarism. A "speed detection" flag is triggered when a student's time spent is significantly less than time required to view it. Students are accessing this capability through non-BCVS devices like cell phones, ipads and other tablets. Please review our expectations on cheating, lying and plagiarism in the Student Handbook, and be sure you adhere to the policies in all classes.
As a general rule, if a student gets "locked out" of a class, they should email the teacher a copy of their completed guided notes along with a note requesting the class be opened. Some teachers suggest or REQUIRE a phone conference or zoom meeting to move forward. When in doubt, check your email - Your teacher has probably already reached out!
Snow Days aren't nearly as fun at BCVS. One of the biggest perks of being able to work anywhere, anytime can also be be a bummer when the other schools get a surprise day off. We specifically recommend you work a day or two ahead for days like this - so you can make snow angels with your in-person friends without worrying you will get behind! Any in person events or meetings will be rescheduled if BCS closes for weather.
The STEM Explorers will meet for this first time as a club THIS Monday! Please see the email from Mrs. Clem.
BCVS STEM Explorers
We will meet Monday, January 26 at 1 PM at the PIE CORE Building (where the flagpole is) to visit the BCS STEM Hub at PIE. We will be using Vex VR to discuss programming. Bring your Chromebook in order to participate! Betsy Clem is the STEM Explorers sponsor.
Students interested in the Welding Bootcamp should attend the orientation on Wednesday 3:30-4:30 at the PIE Center. If you haven't already, reply to this email so I can send you the orientation form. A parent needs to sign the form, but is not required to attend. There is NO COST!
Don't forget to stop by for our last in-person event this month - Ice Cream Social! Drop in for a scoop and a hi-five as we celebrate your hard work!
There is still time to sign up for the CSCC Open House - Reply to this email if you haven't already!
Clubs are back the first week of February! We are VERY excited about the upgrades we've made. Students should have been invited to their clubs this week. Make sure you get those dates and times on your calendar because attendance is recorded and counts toward truancy.

Good Afternoon BCVS family,
I hope the first week of classes went smoothly and you are all looking forward to zoom meetings starting on Tuesday. I am thrilled to see 100% of our students logged in and working.
BCS is closed on Monday in observance of MLK Day. Students do not have work assigned, but their courses are open if students choose to work. Working on a day nothing is assigned moves you ahead in progress and provides a nice buffer on your grade and schedule in case "life" gets in the way.
You can find all the teachers names and email addresses on The Flyer by clicking the Faculty Tab. While you are there, also explore the School Counselor section on the home page. Mrs. Cochran has great resources for Dual Enrollment, PIE courses, and transcript requests!
Today is your LAST opportunity to pick your club. If you haven't already, CLICK HERE to select your 1st, 2nd and 3rd club choices. If you do not choose, you will be placed in one. Teachers will be welcoming students to clubs the end of next week. 80% of our school has already completed this. Way to go, BCVS!
Middle School Mathletes - The Math Meet at Walker Valley is March 28th! Please respond to this email if you are interested in competing. This will be BCVS's first year and I am SO excited to see you excel!
We have the opportunity to participate in the BCS STEM competition "STEM in the Wild" on March 5th from 9-1:30. Please reply to this email if you are interested in this opportunity! I'm looking at you, STEM Explorers!
The BCVS Art Collab was featured in January's 5ive Points Museum Education Newsletter! Check out the full article and more in the attachments. Students who participated in the Art Collab must pick up their work ASAP!
Also attached is an evening opportunity for students and community members to hear the Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra at the museum! Students receive free admission.
Welding Bootcamp with CSCC @ PIE
BCVS, The PIE Center, and CSCC are looking for students who want to learn to weld! This welding bootcamp opportunity is for 10th, 11th, and 12th graders, in person 3:30-5:30 M-Thursday. Please reply to this email if you are interested in take the class
Juniors - The ACT is right around the corner! Save the date for Mandatory ACT Bootcamp on 3/18 & 3/19, and Testing on 3/24. BCS has a remarkable team of teachers providing our schools with weekly ACT Prep! Here are the first four mini-lessons that are presented in advisory classes at both WV and BC.
Cleveland State Community College is having an Open House on Wednesday Feb 18th and grades 9-12 are invited! CSCC is even providing transportation. We will meet at the PIE Center and travel over as a group. This is a great opportunity for you to "Discover your path". Reply to this email if you are interested in attending. I'd love to see 30 students fill up our bus and enjoy a free lunch!
Thursday, January 29th we are inviting every student to an in-person Ice Cream Social to celebrate our Honor Roll students! Please plan on dropping by for a sweet treat - RSVP here if you plan to attend or not.

I have received well written, professional, kind, and valuable emails from MANY students this week. Every email I read I'm impressed with the way you are advocating for yourselves, you are aware of what classes you need, you are driven to succeed and exceed our expectations. I am VERY proud of the students in BCVS.

Have a wonderful weekend and productive week - See you Tuesday!
Good afternoon BCVS family!
I hope you had a wonderful holiday break and are rested and ready for the New Year! This week's newsletter is FULL of information you have been waiting for, so make sure to READ to the END.
All middle school families should have received the email copied below regarding mandatory IReady testing and report cards:
Good Morning Middle School Scholars,
Welcome Back and Happy New Year! I hope you have had a wonderful break and are recharged and ready to work.
Middle school edgenuity courses span the entire year, so work in Edgenuity IS assigned and students should be working on it. Students do NOT need to work in IReady this week, because they will be benchmark testing on Monday and Tuesday.
January 12th & 13th is mandatory in-person IReady Benchmark testing at the PIE Center. We will greet students at the door under the rusty awning across from the parking lot on Parker Street. The doors open from 8:00-8:20, and testing begins at 8:30am. Plan to pick up students at the Wacker Commons entrance at 11:00am. Students will be provided breakfast and a bagged lunch on these days.
Class zoom meetings begin on January 20th at the same times as last semester.
Lastly, middle school students do not receive report cards because their work is continuous. Parents should be receiving communication from Edgenuity at least weekly. Students and parents can log in at any time to know exactly what grade a student is currently earning. Please reach out if you do not receive these updates, or for any other clarification!
I am proud of you, students - See you Monday!
High school courses begin on Monday 1/12/26. I know you are excited! Please make sure you are able to login to Edgenuity before Monday. If you have any issues, you can reply back to this email.
Juniors and Seniors in ELA this semester have a MANDATORY zoom meeting with Mrs. Culberson via zoom on Monday 1/12 at 2PM. Check your emails!
All class zoom meetings begin Tuesday 1/20. Please see the class schedule on The Flyer, and add these dates to your calendar. Zoom meetings are required and part of your attendance expectation for all EOC and Middle School classes.
GOAL Academy is hosting the Blood Mobile on Tuesday January 13th from 8-12pm. We would love to see you there. This is a fantastic opportunity to get your in-person activity complete AND help out your community! Please join us - and bring a friend!
The BCVS Back to School Bowling Bash is THIS Wednesday! Check out the details in the email Mrs. Hambright sent, copied below. ALL STUDENTS are expected to RSVP to the invitation - even if you do not plan to attend.
I hope everyone had a wonderful break. We are starting the new year off with a back to school Bowling Bash on January 15th from 1:00 until 2:00ish. The cost is $7.00 + tax for 1 game and shoe rental. Bring extra money in case you want concessions. Fill out the Google Form below by 1/12 if you plan to attend.(You MUST be logged into your Google account to respond.) Can't wait to see you there!

Have a wonderful weekend and productive week!
Happy Thanksgiving BCVS family!
We hope you have a wonderful week relaxing, enjoying family and friends and having fun.
No work is assigned in Edgenuity until we return from break on 12/2. This is the BEST time for students who may be behind to catch up, because the progress bar will actually move! Teachers are not expected to grade work or unlock tests during this week, but they often do anyway. Feel free to reach out, but remember to be respectful and kind.
When we return, our students will show us what they have learned during EOC testing. Students have been sent an invite on their school google calendar for their testing time(s). The EOC testing schedule can be found here and on The Flyer.
Students taking an EOC have completed their class zoom meeting expectations for the semester! Teachers are available for help and students are encouraged to reach out as often as they need.
Middle school students will have Math, Science and History class meetings as scheduled on Tuesday 12/2. Only ELA is cancelled.
**Update - Feedback on Clubs - Mandatory all students
Only a 10% of students completed this survey, and I suspect it was done during class. This is very disappointing. Please take a few minutes and complete this form this weekend if you haven't already done so, to provide us with feedback for YOUR clubs!
Attendance and participation in clubs has FAR exceeded our expectations. Our students are remarkable, cordial, and learning to be leaders by taking responsibility and participating actively. As such, all students will complete this Club Feedback form by Friday 11/21, so our teachers can review and plan for next semester.
Do you love music? Did you know the PIE center has a recording studio? Are you interested in a music club? Mrs. Culberson is - take a few minutes and complete this interest form if you are too!.
Art Collab
The 5ive Points Art Collab completed their final working session on Thursday and are gearing up for their Exhibition on Thursday December 4th from 5-6 pm. We encourage all of our students to come see their work on display! If you are one of the students in the Art Collab - make sure your pieces are turned into the museum by Friday November 21st!
Christmas Party
Save the Date! Our Annual BCVS Christmas Party is December 16th from 4-6 PM. The Leadership Council is actively planning lots of fun activities and snacks! Plan to bring a $10 wrapped gift for our exchange! More details to come, so stay tuned!

RSVP for STEM Explorers
Join us 12/01/2025 as we use drones to navigate an obstacle course. Please RSVP here.
The seventh meeting of BCVS STEM Explorers will be Monday, December 1, 2025 from 1:00-2:00 PM. We will meet at the PIE Center CORE entrance (where the flagpole is) for drop-off and pick-up. This will be the last STEM Explorers meeting before Christmas Break. Students will work in the Bradley County Schools STEM Hub located at the PIE Innovation Center for our STEM challenge activity. Ms. Betsy Clem, an Innovation Specialist with Bradley County Schools, is the sponsor of this event. Mr. Jason Viviano, coordinator of the BCS STEM Hub, and Ms. Pam Coleman, an Innovation Specialist with Bradley County Schools, will also be supporting our STEM Explorers. Please RSVP here.
Brag Sheet
Our students participate in clubs, teams, and groups across the county at other schools, rec leagues etc. We want to celebrate them, too! As we move through the year, if your student earns an award or accolade OR you want to share the impact BCVS has made on you or your student, let us know, HERE.
A recent technology issue has been found. Students do not have google permission to email more than one person at a time. This is impactful when students are trying to "reply all" or include two teachers in an email. Students must either forward a sent email, or copy/paste and email each person separately. I am sorry for the inconvenience.

All high school students at BCVS are assigned an advisor to provide an additional layer of guidance and support throughout the school year. Mr. Armenta is the advisor for 9th and 10th grade, and Mr. Peltier is the advisor for 11th and 12th. From Mr. Peltier for 11th and 12th grade advisory:
We will have an 11th and 12th grade zoom advisory on Monday, November 17th from 3:45 pm to 6:00 p.m. This will be an individual conversation lasting just a few minutes if you have met all of your BCVS obligations. It could be longer if you are failing or behind in your progress. I will email a zoom link before the advisory. You might have to wait a few minutes in the waiting room. It went well last month for those who attended. If you are unable to attend the zoom due to work or other important obligations, please email me at your earliest convenience and I will make arrangements with you.

Academic Integrity
Every student enrolled at BCVS must work hard to maintain academic excellence. Our students are expected to rise to challenges and work with the teachers to create an educational foundation that will carry them through whatever post secondary goals they set. Academic integrity is essential in any school, but even more in a virtual setting. It is imperative our students review the expectations for academic integrity in our student handbook, as well as the consequences if the expectations are not met. Parents should be on the lookout for students using their phone to take pictures of the questions instead of answering them with notes, copy/pasting questions into google, AI searching screenshots, using app scripts to speed up videos, modifying browser settings, and more! Thank you for partnering with us to grow our students and build their futures!
Advisory
Did you know every high school student at BCVS has an advisor? Mr. Armenta works with 9th and 10th graders, and Mr. Peltier supports our 11th and 12th graders. Advisors check in on your academic progress and are here to help with anything school-related—whether it’s grades, classes, friends, or even just how you’re doing overall. Mr. Peltier will be sending out an email soon inviting his students to join a drop-in advisory Zoom meeting. Keep an eye on your inbox and next week’s newsletter for all the details!
RSVP for STEM Explorers
Join us 11/10/2025 as we tackle another STEM construction challenge using Sphero Blueprint kits. Please RSVP here.
The fifth meeting of BCVS STEM Explorers will be Monday, November 10, 2025 from 1:00-2:00 PM. We will meet at the PIE Center CORE entrance (where the flagpole is) for drop-off and pick-up.
Unfortunately, The Tinsley Park Fall Festival has been canceled due to location issues. The leadership team has decided to move the event to the spring.
We are only 2 weeks from Thanksgiving Break and 3 weeks from EOC testing. Please make sure all students in EOC courses know what days they test!
EOC Testing Schedule
Students currently enrolled in Math 1, 2 or 3, ELA 1 or 2, Biology, and/or US History have an EOC scheduled for the first week of December. Please look at The Fall EOC Testing Schedule and make sure these very important dates and times on your calendar. Digital Citizenship Week
Bradley County Schools celebrates Digital Citizenship Week October 20-24. We invite students to think about all that being a good digital citizen involves: building healthy habits, engaging respectfully with others online, using tech ethically (citing sources, respecting copyright, avoiding plagiarism, etc.), protecting privacy, balancing time online with the time in the real world, and being thoughtful about how their digital footprints shape their reputation. Parents can support this by modeling wise tech use and by guiding teens toward a balanced, positive digital life.

Also from Ms. Clem regarding Digital Citizenship week

From Mrs. Cochran in Schoology this week:
Hi Class of 2026,
I'm excited to share some important updates about your TN Promise journey!
Introductory Email Coming Soon
If you completed your TN Promise scholarship application between August 1st and September 23rd, you’ll receive your first email from tnAchieves/TN Promise later this week. This message will also be sent to the parent or guardian contact listed on your application (if provided).
Just Applied? Here’s What to Expect
If you’re still working on your application, no worries! You’ll receive your introductory email within about seven days of submitting it. It’s not instant—our partners are working hard to load new applicants into their system, and it may take up to a week for your application to show up.
Weekly Communication Begins After November 3rd
Once the TN Promise application deadline passes on November 3rd, all applicants will begin receiving weekly updates to help you stay on track.
New TN Promise Meeting Format
This year, you’ll have the flexibility to meet your TN Promise meeting requirement by either attending a live Zoom session or watching a recorded webinar. You won’t be assigned an in-person meeting, but rest assured—our BCVS team and tnAchieves are here to support you every step of the way.
We’re proud of you for taking this step toward your future, and we’re here to help you succeed!

This week is the first meeting of the Sports Club! Students have been notified by Edgenuity messaging and invited to join a Remind class to stay connected. (@indivudua) I'm looking forward to seeing you at WV 5:00 Wednesday!

The much anticipated Stem Explorers begins on September 8th! This is open to ALL STUDENTS but you must act fast and RSVP from your BCS device. Details from Mrs. Clem, below:

United States Youth in Senate Applications Now Open
Audience: School Counselors
Contact: Rebekah.Reed@tn.gov
Applications are now being accepted from qualifying junior or senior high school students to participate in the 2026 United States Senate Youth Program. Two Tennessee student delegates will be selected to attend the USSYP Washington Week planned for March 7-6, 2026. The selected delegates will also receive a $10,000 undergraduate scholarship from The Hearst Foundations. Applications close on September 22. More information about the program, including qualification criteria and application materials, can be found on the Tennessee Student Opportunities webpage.
Don’t miss this chance to lead and learn in the nation’s capital!
We are all learning to navigate the EdgeEx platform of Edgenuity. This week we discovered:
If you have trouble submitting in an EdgeEX course, go back and make sure all of the videos have been viewed until the end.
The teachers are unable to reset assignments if the videos have not been played until the end.
"Hands on Labs" in BIO should have been hidden.
We are working with Edgenuity to get that resolved. If you see one coming up in your assignment calendar, please email Mr. Kibler @Jason Kibler
Text-to-speech in the EdgeEx platform has failed in some courses. I sent off for support, and Edgenuity believes to have resolved the issue for some students. I recommended clearing your cache and cookies (ctrl + h) and trying it again.
If it does not work, please send me a video or screen recording so I can forward it for further support.
Tests and exams should not need a teacher review to open
If you have a course the requires a teacher review before the lesson opens, please email the teacher and Mrs. Gott.
You all have a lot of work assigned every day, and you should not wait for an additional attempt to be added to your course in order to move on. Instead you should proactively complete the guided notes, and submit them with your emailed request for an additional re-take.
If you get an error, can't move forward, or something is not working, please send me and your teacher a screenshot. I am forwarding these issues to Edgenuity as quickly as you send them to me to be fixed for all users!
Short written responses in all courses that are assigned, are not optional. Students who submit by typing a letter or gibberish will be locked out of their course, and must conference with a teacher and/or the principal to continue moving in their curriculum. Submitting work in this fashion wastes valuable time for the student AND significantly more of the teacher and principals time to unlock.
Be 100% sure you have watched all the videos in the lesson to completion if you are having trouble moving forward.
ACT Practice Weekly Challenge:
Calling ALL High School Students - It is never too early to prep for the ACT! Seniors - You will be retaking the ACT in just a few weeks. Start prepping with Lesson 2 and complete this exit slip.
If you have a course that requires a teacher review before the lesson opens, please email the teacher and Mrs.

Good Afternoon BCVS Family!
Our middle school did an AMAZING job on the IReady this week. We had 100% attendance and our students were all actively engaged! Students should now be working for 45 minutes on each of ELA and Reading on their my path program of IReady per week!
Our students met their teachers in virtual class meetings on Tuesday. Mr. Langdon's Math 2 class had the best and perfect attendance! Way to go, 10th grade!
Mrs. Culberson recognized 9th and 10th grade ELA for being punctual, looking sharp and participative! Well, done, scholars!
Clubs have been rostered and the teachers will be emailing you by Monday!
Seniors- Mrs. Cochran has TWO important announcement for you on Schoology:
Seniors!! Please see the deadlines for TN Promise. This is FREE MONEY for college. Our goal is for ALL BCVS students to register, even if you are not planning on going to college.
and
The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation College Scholarship Program application is now open on the Common App. The deadline to apply is November 12, 2025.
Selected Cooke Scholars will:
Receive scholarship funding toward college attendance costs so they may graduate with as little debt as possible.
Access comprehensive advising about how to maximize their college experience.
Be eligible for internships, study abroad, and to apply for the Cooke Graduate Scholarship.
Eligible applicants must meet the following requirements:
Senior standing – Complete four years of high school in the U.S., a U.S territory, or on a U.S. military base and plan to graduate in spring 2026.
Fall College Enrollment – Intend to enroll in an accredited four-year college beginning in fall 2026.
GPA – Earn a minimum, cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.75 or above.
Test Scores - Submit a standardized test score or scores from one of the following: SAT, ACT, AP, or IB exam. There is no minimum score requirement to apply, however, applicants must have taken one (or more) of these tests and submit the score.
Demonstrate Unmet Financial Need – We will consider applicants with a maximum annual gross income of $95,000. Last year’s cohort of new College Scholarship recipients had a median family income of approximately $34,000. During the selection process, the Foundation will conduct a full financial review which will take into account all income and assets of the student and the student’s parents.
Mrs. Clem has important questions for students about our STEM Explorers club beginning on September 8th:
Bradley County School leaders have worked as a collaborative team to create weekly ACT lessons to help ALL of our students do their best on the ACT Test. Only students logged into their BCS accounts will be able to view the slide. I will be sharing these lessons with our weekly newsletter, and including opportunities to earn rewards along the way! Please look over Week 1, HERE - Especially if you are a senior as the retake is September 30th!

Have a wonderful weekend and productive week!
Good afternoon and happy Friday BCVS Family!
Our students have had an awesome first week of school. Every student has logged in, started working, and is moving along well!
Many Edgenuity courses have updated to the new EdgeEx platform and look and function differently than last year. There are more opportunities for the students to review and practice learning. I appreciate our students, families and teachers for working through the growing pains collectively and positively. Parents: the students' activity time when they are working in Edge Ex courses is not displayed on the attendance log in the parent portal. I have reached out to Edgenuity for more information.
Tuesday is the first Class Meeting for all EOC and middle school students. Students should receive an email by Monday with the zoom links, and can also access them in schoology. Richard Kokello and Ryan Ballinger helped me create a video on how to access your zoom links through Clever AND some tricks and tips for navigating Edgenuity. Check it out, HERE!
Middle School will be benchmark testing the IReady Wednesday and Thursday this week. Please plan to drive around the back of the PIE Center, and drop students off at the Wacker Commons entrance. Bradley County Schools Nutrition is providing our students with free breakfast and lunch on these days. The doors open at 8:00, close at 8:20 and testing begins at 8:30. Drop off information can be found on The Flyer. This is a mandatory event for all middle school students.
Our first In-Person Connect is September 10th for Back to School Bowling! I hope you all decide to come out and have some fun!

Good Afternoon BCVS Family!
Thank you for attending orientation this past Wednesday! I am very proud of our school. It was amazing to see all of our students, parents and teachers actively engaged. It is refreshing to hear so much excitement about our interest clubs. Thank you for choosing BCVS!
School email and Edgenuity login information was shared with parents and students Thursday evening. Within 2 hours of the email being sent out, 25% of our students logged in! That does NOT include the 20% of students who logged in the day of orientation. Our students are remarkable. Please ask all students to log in today so I can iron out any issues before Monday.
MOST of the students were able to choose their clubs. If not, please use this form to do so, now. Students will need to use their school accounts to complete this form. Many students emailed in responses and they have been recorded. Club results will be revealed toward the end of August.
Many students have asked about the Alt S/P course listed on your schedule. All this does is acknowledge that students in BCVS have an advisory teacher assigned. No action is needed.
Class zoom meetings begin on Tuesday August 19th. The schedule can be found on The Flyer on the Student schedule tab.
Parents and students should bookmark our BCVS Calendar. *Fair warning - if you subscribe to the calendar, you will get an email every time an event is updated, which is often. You can view the calendar on The Flyer.
Middle School Students will take the IReady Diagnostic in-person at the PIE Center on August 20 and 21st! Make sure to mark your calendars.
Our orientation doorprize goes to:
