About Md. Ariful Islam Sanim
Md. Ariful Islam Sanim is teaching currently at the Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Brac University, Bangladesh. Currently, he is teaching Elements of Statistics and Probability (STA201) and Introduction to Statistics (STA101) for bachelor students in four different sections.
He received both his bachelor's and master's degrees in Applied Statistics from the University of Dhaka's Institute of Statistical Research and Training (ISRT). He has over three years of experience conducting biostatistical and public health research. He remained Research Officer (Aug, 2021–Sept, 2022) and Research Assistant (Feb, 2021–Jul, 2021) under the Maternal and Child Health Division of icddr,b. He also remained Research Assistant (Jan, 2020–Jan, 2021) under the supervision of Dr. M. Shafiqur Rahman, Professor, ISRT, University of Dhaka. He also has 9 months of teaching experience (Feb, 2019-Sept, 2019) during his MS studies as a student tutor.
Md. Ariful Islam Sanim is active in research. He works in longitudinal data analysis, with his main research interest being in interpretable machine learning, causal inference and missing data analysis.
He obtained several awards including Govt. Honors Scholarship (2018), Conference Fund for Developing Countries Award (41st Annual Conference of the International Society for Clinical Biostatistics, 2020), National Science and Technology Fellowship (Ministry of Science, Bangladesh, 2020), ISRT, University of Dhaka, Merit Scholarship (ISRT, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, 2021), 2nd Runner-up, Bangladesh Mathematical Olympiad (2010) etc.
He has excellent expertise in R programming and data science tools like Rmarkdown, tidyverse, tidymodels, ggplot2. Also he has good level of expertise at writing research protocol, writing manuscripts, developing research ideas, designing research methodology etc. He is also good at Microsoft Office.
