Funding for this grant was awarded to the following projects in December of 2023:

Prevention coalitions in Windham County working together to support a comprehensive effort to promote wellness and prevent the use/misuse of substances, primarily by youth and young adults throughout Windham County.

Second Growth offers clinical and school-based counseling to youth and families who reside in Windsor and Orange counties in Vermont, and Grafton and Sullivan counties in New Hampshire. Grant funding from Vermont’s Prevention Lead Region 4 will enable Second Growth’s Student Assistance Counselors to provide prevention education and other supportive services for middle- and high school students in Windsor, Vermont.

Increasing prosocial activities for Hartford youth, expanding regional prevention education and messaging, while also assessing, growing capacity, and planning for a future teen center.

Increasing Youth Assets and Advancing Health Equity in Bennington

Connection and support for schools and students regarding substance misuse prevention

Little Rivers Health Care, is an FQHC that partners with local organizations to promote substance use prevention through engagement and education with adults and youth at locations they already frequently go to; libraries, health centers, community centers, etc.

The Vershire Wellness Group is a new initiative that offers guided self-help support groups and community educational events for people coping with a family member/friend abusing drugs and/or alcohol.

BRACC’s project focus is to work closely with GMUHS and local stakeholders on a focused assessment of youth needs. BRACC will bring student ambassadors on board to explore the idea of creating a “youth third space” in downtown Chester.

This project aims to support prevention professionals working with youth in school and community-based settings throughout the Bennington, Brattleboro, Springfield and White River Junction Health Districts.  Planned activities include assessing current regional needs at both the organizational and staff levels; providing learning, networking and support opportunities for a wide range of prevention staff; and streamlining how prevention information is accessed and shared by developing a comprehensive resource and communications system easily accessible to both school and community-based programs.


Turning Point Recovery Center enhances the spiritual, mental, physical, and social growth of our community as a means of promoting successful recovery from substance use disorder.

Inspiring and empowering people through education and collaboration to promote equity, wellness and prevent the misuse of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, with an emphasis on youth substance misuse prevention.

Substance misuse prevention education and treatment referrals in a restorative justice setting. 

Friends For Change is a democratically run, youth-led/adult guided, trauma-informed, and play-based club in Bellows Falls, Vermont.

Annual conference for Woodstock-area high schools students, preventing substance abuse by empowering and training students to bring positive change in their schools. The conference is entirely student-led, addressing such topics as conflict resolution, problem-solving, emotional support, safety, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. 

Early Childhood Educators and Family Support workers often express their desire to learn more about how to juggle families' needs, address concerns, make appropriate referrals, talk to parents and children about substance use, and set up healthy learning environments. Hosting in-person trainings open to the community and provided by qualified and knowledgeable trainers will provide several opportunities to learn more about creating positive childhood experiences in the community around us.
