The Civics Project stems from the desire to meaningfully implement Chapter 296 of the Acts of 2018, An Act to Promote and Enhance Civics Engagement. The intent of the Civics Project is to ensure that all students have an opportunity to participate in a student-led civics project grounded in action--the process of applying civic knowledge and skills.
There are 6 stages to the Civics project:
Exploration of a topic or issue that matters to a student, their families, and communities.
Identification of an issue.
Researching and investigating the issue.
Developing an action plan.
Taking action.
Reflecting and showcasing.

The goal of the Civics Project is for students to learn to apply civics. taking action towards engaging with decision-makers, and to consider multiple points of view before taking action. Ultimately, the Civics Project aims to develop students into informed and active members of a democratic society, deeping their sociopolitical awareness.
