Aspen is a management platform for student information. You will see that student grades are updated regularly. Not only do parents have access to Aspen, but so do the students. This allows students to keep track of their grades, ask questions, and gives them the ability to know how they are doing at any moment.
Quizzes/Tests/Projects: 20-100 pts
Classwork: up to 20 pts
Homework: 5 pts/week
Exit Tickets: 5-10 pts
Challenge problems and online extra credit are offered regularly and can be completed and applied towards student's EFFORT grade. Classroom participation is a part of the EFFORT grade.
Points are taken off for late homework assignments.
Students are given opportunities to make corrections and retake assessments to improve their grade if they receive less than 70%. Corrections must be made (with the teacher or parent) before a retake is given. Grades on retakes are capped at 80%.
*Although overall grades less than 0 are not given for an end of term grade, it is important to note that if there is a grade of 0 for any assignment type, this means that the assignment was not turned in on time and has yet to be received. There is a window of time where a student will see a NYC (Not Yet Completed) on their Aspen account as a reminder to turn the assignment in. After that appropriate window of time, the student will receive a 0 for the missing assignment.
