Welcome to a new year at Marshall Simonds Middle School. My name is Franziska Grady and this is my third year at Marshall Simonds. Prior to joining Marshall Simonds I have taught in Austin, TX and New York, NY.

This year in math we will cover the following topics: Integers, Rational Numbers, Expression and Equations, Inequalities, Percent, Construction and Scale Drawing, Circles and Areas, Surface Area and Volume, Probability and Statistics.

I look forward to working with the incoming 7th grade students and parents. I believe in a strong school-home relationship. This website will be frequently updated so that you can see what we are covering in math class throughout the year. It is very important for students to see how math is used in our every day lives. Please check out the Parent Newsletter from the Big Ideas Math Textbook. I will update the Parent Newsletter for the chapter as we are covering the content, reading the Big Ideas newsletter will keep up to date with what your child is learning in class.

7th grade is a big transition year for students and can be challenging both academically and socially. All the teachers on our team are working hard to provide the students with a structure for success. We will expect students to become more independent during this year.

My primary means of communication with parents and students is through Gmail, Google Classroom and Aspen, websites which all students have access to. Google Classroom will be the primary means of communication and assigning/collecting student work. Students will be expected to bring their fully charged iPad to class everyday.
